Look at what I grew

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I have never in my life grown anything that has turned out so well. Here is the URL for a Kafir Lily that I grew, from before it started to bloom until it finished blooming. One of the photos that was taken one morning while the dew was still on the flowers is what I use for my desktop wallpaper because it is so pretty. I'm not trying to brag. I'm just amazed that I grew this thing. When I bought it I had no idea what it was. I brought it home from CA in my suitcase and it got really damaged. I had to cut most of one side of it off. And then it looked bad everywhere I had to cut it until I put cinnamon on the edges of where it was cut. Anyway, tell me what you think for a first time lily grower. Oh, the URL is: http://photos.jesnjer.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=2592

Jesse,

Great picture.

Hi Jesse,

I grow these too! Your pictures are beautiful! I am growing a yellow flower one from seed...it only has 1 1/2 leaves so far and growing a variegated leaf one from seed...no germination on that one. It takes about five years I guess from seed to get any flowers...*sigh* Sure is a long time to wait.

Thanks for sharing your photos Jesse!

Thanks everyone for the compliments. That really means a lot to me. I am trying to learn how to make things using PSP. I made this photo showing the progression from start to finish of the life of the Kafir Lily. I have no idea what it is going to look like once I add it here. I hope it turns out okay.

Cinnamon????

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Cinnamon????

Drumheller, AB(Zone 2a)

Morning!

Yes cinnamon is a great fungicide....believe it or not. You just brush it on any cut surface and voila! I just found that out myself.

Do a search on the above page for cinnamon...go to edit find and type in cinnamon.

Enjoy your day everyone! It is a beautiful sunny day here in Drumheller, AB Canada!

Way to go! Beautiful blooms!

Yes, Moma Norma told me that any time you had an open wound on a succulent to use cinnamon on it. I have some fungicide sprays that do not work as well as cinnamon. It works great.

People use cinnamon on Av's too.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I did not know that. What do they use it for specifically?

Certainly smells better than sulfur dust...

Hi Jesse,

Well I use it on my porridge every morning...LOL! I love the taste of it. It is also very good for diabetics which I am.

I have brushed it on violet leaves if I have had to perform any surgery at all. Works great for a lot of things.

Joanne
