I am growing a large variety of Kohlrabi this year and would like to save some seeds for later use. Has anyone ever done that with this vegetable? The plants have yet to even show like they are going to flower.
Kohlrabi
Normally kohlrabi is a biennial. If overwintered they will bloom next spring. Sometimes if started early enough in the spring, they will seed in the same year but not often.
So, saving the seed has not seemed to work out as well as I hoped. Every one of the Kohlrabi have succumbed to some fungal disease that turned the outer core a green with white spots color.
I guess I will buy my next batch of seeds from the store.
Some how I missed seeing this thread.
My Labor-Day plants were harvested a couple of weeks ago, but I left a couple to see what would happen. Beautiful flowers. I hope they are self seeding - we'll see.
Thanks for your information, Farmerdill
