My tag says.Hedychium 'Dr Moy'...cuz I have another one that is similar to the variegated leaf part..Hedychium robustca-not sure of the spelling...
Hedychium 'Dr Moy'-bloom
They are one and the same. When Ying Doon Moy, of San Antonio Botanical Gardens bred this hybrid, he named it 'Robusta Variegated Ginger'. Since it has grown in popularity, it has been widely distributed as Hedychium 'Dr. Moy', honoring its breeder.
I visited with him a few years ago and he showed me his original notebook where he kept his hybrid records. Another of his hybrids in cultivation is 'Moy Giant'. More on my website at
