Tracy DiSabato-Aust, in "The Well-Tended Perennial Garden," says that she uses "wheat starter fertilizer" when she amends soil (8-32-16). Have any of you see this? I am wondering if it is cheaper than the fertilizers sold in garden centers.
wheat starter fertilizer
No I haven't but I agree to ammend with more phos. cause it is good for the roots and then the plant. It is always better to place energy in the soil rather than up in the plant. Good Idea.
Nothing beats compost. I planted my tomatoes in a 1ft raised bed of compost and 2 bags of black cow. All I can say is wow !
