Question about where to grow certain brugs

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

Ok, Ive got a shredded white and Ive got it in mid afternoon sun..It is not growing very fast and the bottom stems on the bottom leaves are not growing out straight..they are kind of curled..not the leaves but the stems going to the leaves..Should I be moving it to less sun or morning or afternoon sun?..all these questions....does anybody have a site to check where certain brugs should be growing in the yard?....Ive heard fuzzy leaves are suppose to have less sun or is it more..I am so confused.....Judy

Judy I find that the Brugs I plant in morning sun do the best.
The ones that are in the hot afternoon sun tend to droop and the flowers don't last as long.
They become perky again after the sun goes down.
Do you have a spot that gets morning sun and afternoon shade where you can plant the shredded?

Hi Judy, I have my Shredded in an area that only gets full sun until 11am and it's really enjoying it. Just about to get my first bloom.

I grow many of mine in full sun with great success. They seem to do just as well as the ones with morning sun and afternoon shade .. the only real difference is that the full sun ones will wilt a bit in early afternoon and perk right back up when the sun is not straight overhead. The main thing is make sure the full sun one are watered well in the morning. I do not mist the leaves on the ones in full sun when they are wilting because they can get sunburned.

In my area morning sun is the ONLY way. Here in Colorado we are much closer to the sun, and things even labelled full sun get burned like crazy.
Even my Yarrow can not take FULL sun, unless I want to be out watering this drought tolerent thing every day.
Im sure you will find the perfect spot in MI Judy, and I hope it will reward you quickly!

In very warm summers, the growth of many Brugmansias is reduced,, especially of those, which are exposed to the sun all day. No matter how much you water, the roots are not capable to transport the amount of water, the leaves evaporate on a hot summer day in full sun. The result are wilting leaves and a reduced growth.
