Thanks, all! And sis, a couple are large enough, if you'd like a cutting...!

League City, TX(Zone 9a)

Karen, you are going to end up liking H. montana! It's an easy grower, the new leaves come out bronze, and the yellow flowers are so soo cool!

Prescott, AZ

AHHHHHHHHH, theres nothing better than a hoya fix.

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Speaking of hoya fixes.... My Queen "P" box arrived today as well.

I received H. vitellinoides, magnifica, latifolia, cv. Joy, aff. albiflora, & benguetensis.

I am such a happy little pig. I even found places for them in windows and everything! Fa La La La La ....

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh, and Karen ... my new green pets are waving "hello" to your green pets (lol).

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh Come Now Betsy, I can quite anytime. Really, for example, I will not order anything from QP tomorrow, or the next day. See? I have it completely under control.
HeeeeeeHeeeeee,

The cv Sunrise opened all the way today - it is delicious!! If I could take pictures like Christina, I'd post a pic, but, alas, I can't. Suffice it to say the flowers AND the smell are wonderful! AND, while playing plants today - oh yea, gotta play plants hard when you get new ones! - I looked at Sunrise closer - she has this bloom, plus two more peduncles with buds forming...oh, delight, delight!!

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

What does it smell like?

Macon, IL(Zone 5b)

Ann - I'm really bad at describing smells...I can tell you it's not overwhelming and smells kind of like really nice lotion (?) - sorry, best I can do. How are your new plants??

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Hmmm, I like a nice lotion!!
My newbies are happily basking in the evening sun right now.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Yes...I think the cv. Sunrise, H. obscura and the lacunosas smell of a good lotion...or a good soap. There is something refreshing about them...not cloying...at least to my nose.

I'm sooo jealous....I can't bring plants into the house or my cats will tear them up. I have a vase of gladiolas on top of my armoire...the only place in the house the furry beasts can't reach....or so I thought...till we came home from a doctor's appointment and I found two of the glads broken..with teeth marks in them! I figured out that Lucy Furr was jumping from the TV to the top of the armoire, so I moved the TV over a foot. The next morning she tried to make the jump again while I slept. I was awakened by the sound of her launching herself across the room...then going *kersplatt* on her tail. She hasn't tried it again....

IN yesterday's comics there was a cute Kit and Carlyle where the cat is in the middle of a potted plant singing, "In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight..." I posted it on DH's computer with a note about why we can't have house plants.... The little vixen even destroys silk plants. I thought I had it figured out how I was going to ahndle overwintering my plants in the guest room by hanging them from a laundry pole contraption...but if she can jump onto the armoire to eat plants, she darn sure can jump up on the laundry pole thing and eat my epis, ferns, etc...

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

LOLOL My cats used to eat plants,(so I had fakes, yuk), until I started collecting Cacti & Succulents!!! The minute I brought the first one home they made a bee-line straight for it, and OUCH it HURT!!! Neeeeeeeeeever touched the plants again! I made sure it was one with really, really long spines!! The little monsters have not touched a plant since!! These two managed to devour an entire Poinsettia once without getting sick, so the C&S was just a try! Works like a charm!! LOL

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Ohhhh, don't worry BamaBelle, nearly every single plant in my house has at least one set of fang-marks through at least one leaf. I also have to police the new vines on my plants because, they become batting-toys for the beasts if I don't get them secured on a trellis in a timely fashion. It's a good thing they are so darned cute!
Ann

Long Beach, CA

How about hanging plants from the ceiling high enough the cat can't jump up to get them?
I have the problem with my dogs, but not my cat. I can't put any plants within reach of them or they would destroy it (pot & all). Fortunately they can't climb or jump much. I have to have metal lawn furniture in the back yard (they ate the wood stuff). Ha. Puppies are the worst.
Marcy

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

I once hung a pot of catnip in under the eaves of my house...thinking it was totally out of reach of the cats. One morning I found the neighbors Siamese, 'Chester', asleep IN the pot...stoned out of his mind. So much for hanging pots!!!

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

tee hee - it pays to have (talented) friends in high places....guess who REALLY took that picture...??

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Betsy?

Aw come on...don't spoil it for us...YOU took it.

Doncha love how the spots the sun hits (or higher light) turn pink? That photo reminds me of a bunch of little sparrows or chicks all looking in the same direction for.....FOOD.

So...who took it?

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

awww, Lucky you!! Nice new babies!! Dontchya just love getting a box of plants in the mail! Especially when they look like that!! Like Christmas day!

League City, TX(Zone 9a)

Too bad we don't have "scratch and sniff" on DG! I know how wonderful that bloom smells. Enjoy and congrats!

Hoooooooweeeeeeee, I kept chasin' that FedEx truck around all day and he finally stopped at my house. You know what that means - I got new window pets from QP!!!! I forgot to write them all down so I can't tell you what they all are, but I got 'em all potted-up and put in jumbo freezer bags so they will root in a delightfully humid environment (I am doing the Christina-style of rooting).

Now, all I have to do is figure out where to put 'em when they are ready to join their new friends.

I'd say doing the happy dance is better than cleaning the toilet any day!

Wooohooo,
Ann

Long Beach, CA

LOL....figuring "WHERE TO PUT THEM" gets more & more challenging as more & more of those fun boxes come. Ha Ha.
Congrats & be sure to post some pics soon.
