Yellowing Leaves

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Hi All - I recently (2 months) planted a 2' tall plumeria into the ground from a nursery purchase. It seems to be growing gangbusters but most of the leaves appear to have some yellowing on them. I looked at the Plumeria 101 site and it showed a picture of "leaf yellowing", but it did not provide additional info/cure. This is probably an easy one for you experts. I've really gotten hooked on this plant and don't want to lose it!!! Thanks

It is normal to have just one or two bottom leaves turn yellow and fall off as new ones come in during growth, but if they are all turning yellow, then there is a problem, depending on what the yellow looks like. Can you post a picture of the plant? That would help. Growing like "gangbusters" is a good sign and eliminates rot. It is probably just in need of some nutrients and perhaps a little more water than it is getting. I would start fertilizing with MiracleGrow weekly until new growth is a dark green color. You can also water with some minerals in the form of Epsom Salt -- one tablespoon per gallon of water.

Thanks Clare. We have had a ton of rain over the past week and I think it probably does need the nutrients. I'll try your Epsom salt suggestion. Thanks again

My pleasure:-) You're right then; it probably is just in need of some nutrients and minerals. If you don't want to water with the fertilizer and/or supplements since you've had a lot of rain, you can try foliar feeding with a light mist to the leaves. Do this in the early evening or early morning when it is cool out.
