A bad hair day and other garden design dilemmas

Novato, CA

People always coo about what a great job it must be to be a landscape duhsigner.

well , today I would say , " not so much "

If you want your projects to come out highly crafted then you need to be involved in the construction administration / project management oversight.
This is where I have earned my name 'construction nanny' ( as well as another more colorful ( and accurate ) description that cannot be written here for P.G. 13 content.

C.A. as it is called ( construction admin ) seems like a rather innocuous kinda job but let me tell you, it can make Hades seem like Club Med .

Today was one of those days.

I won't bore you with all the sadistic events of the day except for one little story that is so horrifying that it is almost funny.

The concrete contractor used a flexible acrylic chaulk today to seal some expansion joints in a brand new stamped concrete patio.
It was about 100 degrees and the gooey chaulk was taking its sweet time in setting up.

In the mean time two furry 4 legged beasts known as the family dogs , decided that the gooey bubble gum like chaulk was a real thrilling treat to lay in, roll on, walk across and spread all over any newly installed surfaces such as freshly mulched flower beds, new teak decks, new concrete patios, new path ways and more.
It seems that the more you rolled across the grey gooey expansion joints and then rolled in dirt and mulch the funner the day was.

To say the least, it was a very very bad hair day for one brown standard poodle and a mixed lab mutt.
Actually, my hair was thinning at this point in the day and wasn't looking too good either.

So now I can add 'dog transport services to high end expensive groomers ' to my resume .
When does the fun ever stop ?
