Finally!!!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

For those of you who have been following my saga and praying with me, I FINALLY got a bloom I can actually see. The first 3 blooms arrived during wind and rain and never fully opened. Today I got home from work (in the wind and rain) and looked under the roof of my Wishing Well, and here she is!!!

I just can't believe it! My very own passiflora!

I just wish she wasn't in hiding - no one can see her but me! Thank heavens for flash photography!!!

Can there ever be anything more beautiful than your very first???

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I know how you feel, the anticipation is agony... I have the same plant, it's called passiflora belotii... have you smelled it?? It smells DELICIOUS... sort of like a lemony Ivory soap smell.... to tell you about agony, mine blooms while I'm at work.... by the time I get home, the smell is GONE and its starting to close....just like daylilies... they are VERY SNEAKY... one thing I DID learn here is this variety doesn't produce fruit... it's sterile... good thing, I can't imagine how it would taste since the smell is SO SWEET...

Smell it - I almost didn't SEE it! It's way up under the roof of the Wishing Well. I have half a notion to cut off the blossom so I can smell it and see it up close - but I'm not sure how I could get it down without harming the rest of the plant...or myself! (You can almost see the remainder of #3 up over the rafter. Sheesh - she picked the most awkward spots to set flowers!!! Hopefully the next will be in a spot where others can share her beauty!)
