Please help a newbie

Covington, LA(Zone 8b)

Could someone please tell me - is this a Gulf Frittillary caterpillar? I'm new to the care and feeding of butterflies, but if enthusiasm means anything, I'm in. There are 4 of these little guys on my (new) Maypop vine. I'm kinda new to the website, but I've read enough posts to know there are real experts here. Thanks - Peggy

That's sure what it looks like to me! Had a few on my passion vines a few weeks ago. Good luck!

Thanks, Knolan. I can't wait to see what happens. I will keep an eye on them.

They make a relly pretty little red buttterfly.

I have family in Covington! Do you know the Dwyer's or the Chatham's?

Nope, sorry Did they do ok with the storm?

My aunts house was pretty much ruined but my cousins house did okay. The had evacuated and their home was broken into while they were gone but they had taken anything of serious value with them. How did you fare?

We did okay too - Lots of big pines down but no real house damage. My yard used to be in lots of shade before, so a real silver lining is that now I have sun and it's really great! Sorry about your aunt's house. And the looting - crises bring out the worst in some people.

Yes, well, it was hard to watch what was going on and since nothing of value was really taken from them, we can't help but think that they were just really looking for food and supplies. At least that's what we hope in our hearts.

I think so too. Covington is a wonderful small town and we've always felt safe.
