Hello palmbob,

Been doing some research and am pretty sure I have this particular species/cultivar. (I've never grown succulents before.) Would you mind peeking at these three photos and answering a couple questions?

The first photo is when I initially found it at what can be considered farm stand/plant store. I found it in no soil whatsoever and sort of jammed into a one inch pot that had fallen down behind a display table. I put it in soil I use for succulents and put outdoors in full sun.

The second and third photos are the damage that's ensued since I've acquired it. As of today I've repotted into a 2 inch pot with soil that's topped with small stone. I've brought it indoors out of direct sunlight.

My questions are:
Did the direct sunlight do this damage?
Should I put this plant in stone instead of soil?
I'm obviously missing something in being successful with this plant. Do you have an idea what it might be?

Thanks for your time in peeking at this.
Anne

Does look a tad fried.. most Gasteria do not like full sun conditions. I can only grow a few species successfully that way. Mine that are happiest live in pretty shady areas of the garden

A tad fried... ;o)
I didn't have an idea of what this plant was when I found it and wasn't able to locate info on it until now. Live and learn. I will see if I can bring it back to life (I love a challenge). There's an offshoot I'll attempt to nurture and we'll see if I can save this little guy. Thanks for taking a peek.
By the way, am I correct about the species?

close... I don't know if the variety is right... that variety almost always has rounded leaf ends and your plant has pointed ones.
