Stupid Question spent flowers and their old pods

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Isabella's (I think) blooms are spent after a beautiful display. All the old flowers have been pulled off, but I still have the old pods on the plants. What's the best way to remove them? Should I cut them off or try to pull them off? Or do I just let them turn brown and fall off naturally?
Oh, and since the blooming period is over, it is truly amazing to see all the new growth!!
Thanks much!

I cut them off daily to encourage new blooms. If you use your fingernail, the brug will stain it dark.

Thanks, Spete.
That's kinda what I thought, but wasn't quite sure. Don't think I'll use my fingernail to do it with, though!
