iPhoto = Picasa???

I hear that iphoto is supposed to be as good or better than picasa. With picasa you can make these COOL LOOKING photo collages, and people say you can do the SAME with MAC iPhoto, but I cannot figure out HOW in iphoto. ANYONE want to help a computer stupid, OS X hating MACHEAD out??
