Brug Come Back in Z6a

Mifflintown, PA(Zone 6a)

Her are my pics. I mulched with ground leaves maybe 2 feet. When uncovered and cut back every time I got a leaf something ate them. Finally got going but real slow. I am sure I wont try it again. now we had a really mild winter.

hanks hope. I think everything of mine is behind this yr. We have been having strange weather. Dixie My potted Brugs have a few blooms.

Still pretty good it is coming back in your zone!! I have heard they are slow to come back when you leave them out even in a warmer zone than yours. Have you fed it heavy to try to get it going faster?

I always suspect when they are so slow rebounding that some of their roots were killed too.

I am way behind this year too. We had rain straight for so many days in spring it really confused my inner time clock.

It looks real good for coming back in our zone. Give it another month and with heavy feeding you will be surprised with the way it will look. Last year most of mine never started blooming until late Aug. or early Sept. But the ones I kept in the GH this year have been blooming since Mar.

Kell I know what you are talking about when it comes to the rain. At the first of the spring we were getting nice showers at lease once or twice a week. But the last month nothing. I can go out and turn on the sprinkler to the garden and after an hour it still looks like it hasn't been watered. We sure could use a nice 2 or 3 day rain. Nice and slow and good soaker. We have cracks in the ground now that when I put the pugs out I have to watch to make sure one of there paws don't get into one and break there leg. Will it isn't really that bad but close. I live in the country with wild grass and we don't water the yard just the important things like the veg. garden and all my flowers.

Kell, I kinda thought that abt the roots. That area is my junk area and I havent been feeding like I should. If you look close I think you can see the remains of my banana. I tried to keep it in the basement and it was mush till spring. Was a big root ball because it had a couple of Pups on it just couldnnt throw it away so I set it back in the corner when I trimed a jewish ivy I threw the vines on top of it . Now I see there is a little spindley banana plant emerging. LOL

I've been avoiding allowing myself the luxury of mustering up such a brutal attempt, at the brugs .. but I'm feeling a bit stronger on giving it a wee whirl - one day.

I guess it certainly couldn't hurt to concentrate on the 'south' side also.

Maybe (they) could develop the same 'spunk' as yours had. (hee)

Thanks so much, Oriole ..

Oriole,
I don't post here much, usually I just lurk and look at the gorgeous pics.

I just wanted to say that your brug doesn't look all that behind compared to mine. I had to wait so long to get mine out into the sun because of all the rain in the last few weeks. I was afraid the rain would rip all the leaves off. Mine had all been inside under lights, cuttings I started over the winter. So, it looks like you're pretty much right on schedule for this year...everything is behind since our spring decided to come at the end of June. Hopefully we'll get nice blooms before frost this fall, but I'm not betting on any seeds.

Good luck!
Heather
