'Passing Storm'

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

A friend sent me a couple of leaves of this begonia about a year ago.

One of them finally produced a little plant!

This is a photo of the largest leaf.....isn't she pretty?!

That is pretty. Wonder which it is?

oh, duh, I guess it is Passing Storm. :-) What type is it?

lol!! I dunno! She just had it marked 'Begonia 'Passing Storm' '
Probably a Rhizo.....(they seem to do the best for me)
Just looked it up...it is a Rhizo:

Origin - Patrick Worley Hybrid
Description - Rhizomatous - Deep pink /silver tear drop leaves with burgundy undersides. The more light the pinker it gets.

There's some really pretty rhizo's. They do better in more light for me. My favorite rhizos are erthophylla and jelly roll morton.

Nan, you're a walking, talking breathing plant encyclopedia!

lol....Susan...I just *used to* read up a lot on plants...haven't had time for that the past few years!

Now, Violet_Treasure, there....*she's* the walking, talking, breathing AV encylopedia!!
If you ever have a question regarding an African Violet, she knows the answer!

Allison...this begonia leaf was sent to me by the same friend who sent me those AV leaves whose babies' photos I posted.

Lovely, Nan. That's quite an accomplishment going from leaf to plant.

Hey good growing Nan! Passing storm is a nice one!

Thanks, all....I'm still in awe that I actually got a plant to grow from it!

She had sent me a few others, too....one of them will produce a leaf, then it croaks....it has 2 little bitty leaves, so we'll see what happens.

2 or 3 others she sent I had no luck with.....and they were....guess what...Rexes.....they don't like me!

I like the black outline-really adds to it!
