Yay! I've got blooms!! Here's Hyla's Little Lyra. Isn't she gorgeous?
Pictures
Oh she is beautiful ! Yeah she is blooming again !
I love this plant. I have a baby from the leaf I took of your's ! She is a Canadian Hybrid . Wish I could fine more by this hybridizer.
Wow Ruby looks super ! She will be blooming crazy for you soon ! You must be doing a lot of things right getting all your plants to bloom !
Pat Champagne has developed a double crown. According to the Helen Van Pelt Wilson book you sent me, Allison, I can leave them if I want to and don't have plans to show her (which I don't) She said it's not necessary to remove secondary crowns if one likes the look of a fuller plant. The second crown has grown right out of the upper side of the plant, rather than down toward the bottom. I think I'll leave it and see if I can still get her to bloom. What do y'all think?
I've worked and worked trying to find out what is the right thing to do. I think I've finally figured it out! Woohoo! I'm so excited!
Really nice plants! Plus the pictures are great... Is Rambling Ruby a trailer?
Ooooo, I have a Pat Champagne leaf with babies right now :) Yours is beautiful!!
Great plant!! Your plants look fabulous, daahling!
Hyla's Little Lira
is so pretty !
Love your Window Amy ! That little plant holder is wonderful.
I have read many books they say is you like extra crowns and your not showing then keep them and don't let anyone tell you that you can't !
I feel you should do what you enjoy the most !

I've been taking all the extra crowns/suckers off, but I think I'll leave it on Pat Champagne to see how she does. It'd be tricky for me to remove the second one anyway, so this will be an experiment for me. :o)
Amy. Wonderful growing. Love the window. AND the rod iron pot holder. very lovely
Stunning plants, and I love your nice deep, bright windowsill also! :-)
Thanks for the compliments on my window and plants! That is our back entry hallway, and it may well be my favorite room in the house! LOL The french doors look out to the patio and back yard so it has a nice view. The morning sun just pours in that window, and we painted it the brighest, cheeriest yellow we could find! My husband did the knockdown texture on the walls. I just love it! It's right off my kitchen so I can see those AVs all day and out into the backyard, too. :o)
what a gorgeous window, Mrs Planter.
Oops...it's Amy's window. It's great, isn't it??
Amy,
Love the window! You will LOVE the ruby red bloom on Ramblin Ruby.
I have one too & it's one of my favorites.
MsC
Amy's window. It's great
I can't wait to see the blooms on Ramblin' Ruby! I've got several that are budded up big time. I'm hoping to have a Little Hopi open her blooms tomorrow. I'll take and post more pictures in the morning. This is so exciting! LOL
If I can ever get that hallway cleaned up (read that as, get all my potting mix, perlite, extra pots, etc moved to where they're supposed to be so it doesn't look like a disaster area) I'll post a picture of that whole room. I'm so proud of it. It used to be plank paneled walls and ceiling with roll-out windows. We installed those french doors and new windows, put up drywall, my husband did the knock-down texture on the walls and popcorn texture on the ceiling, and my daughter and I painted it, then we put down new vinyl flooring and trim. It was my first venture into bold-colored paint and I love it! Thank you all for the compliments! My only regret with that room is that I didn't have any houseplants when we installed the window or it would have been much, much larger. My husband and I were just talking about that yesterday.
Lyra was my very first violet to ever have babies. And she had plenty. And one of her babies bloomed while still attatched to the mother. She was just ready to grow. It says that she is known in Europe as Lyra and in the US as Carmen. I have both of them and Carmen was my second one to have babies. They are both great growers. And pretty too.
Jesse
I love the window! You are fortunate to have such a large east facing window!
Jesse do you have the same plant as Amy ?

Allison, I looked at the pot and it says Hyla's Little Lyre, so I guess both you and I had a hand in getting that mixed up. LOL Hyla's Little Lira...I'll have to type that a hundred times to remember it. LOL There are 4 open blooms this morning, I think. I'll try to post a picture of it before we leave today.

Your welcome ! She is so cute and so pretty !
What a gorgeous little bloomer! You've got a leaf or two down -- right?? And of 'Rambling Ruby' too -- right?? LOL, no, no, I'm supposed to be thinking about more outside plants, not more AVs! I am hoping to have some nice little plantlets to send you this fall, and DH is happy about the daffs you're sending, as they're his favorite flower.
I am going to have to start editing my collection; Nanna is absolutely right about that!
Yep, leaves of both of them are down. Ramblin' Ruby is a maniac! She's got little white ears everywhere! LOL Inside plants, outside plants - it's plants you're thinking about...at least you got that part right! LOL
I wonder if that's just something about trailers, given their tendency to crown. I've still got plantlets of 'Allegro Appalachian Trail'.... I think I started with 2 pots, 4 leaves down, and ended up with 50 or 60 plantlets... I was giving them away in multiples!
Perhaps. Angel Tears Trail did the same thing for me - lots of babies, well, not as many as you, but I'm putting the Mom leaves back down and they're putting up more ears. I had a rough time with a few of the babies and they're still not looking so well. I expect they'll survive, but it'll take time for them to look better.
Angel Tears Trail and Ramblin' Ruby are maniacs ! They progate and grow like weeds. I've been able to share a lot of them. And neither of them are easy to find for sale .
