Addict in the making...

Okay, I have watched this forum for weeks now.I look at all the pictures, make all the "ooo's and ahhhh's". The brugs are absolutely amazing. I kept telling myself I did NOT need to start any more plants this year, I have enough to handle as it is...blah blah blah...but, I can't stand it no more, I gotta do it!!! =)

So, my first question is....will these gorgeous plants even do well in my zone? I have been watching for responses from the Arkansas section , but haven't seen any. And actually, I have never seen these anywhere around here. I even asked my favorite nursery owner, and she didn't think they were very popular in this area(crazy folks!!). Also, what are the ideal growing conditions for these babies? I have everything from full shade to full sun areas in my yard, so could put them anywhere. I also have about 50 more questions about them, but will stop for now....lol. I get so carried away!

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful day and thank you in advance for any information!

Signed...

Lol, I've been into Brugs for awhile now .. when i joined Daves the Hibiscus and Daylily bug bit me, so I know how you feel.

Ideally Brugs like morning sun and afternoon shade. They are heavy drinkers and feeders as well. You might be able to get away with putting them in the ground since you are on the cusp of zone 8. They will die back in winter and reappear in spring. You would need to heavily mulch them in winter. Most people in zones 7 and below grow them in containers.

Thanks for the response....and for understanding how I feel about it...lol. I do some REALLY weird stuff since I started gardening last year when I bought my house. Talking to my plants, planning my day around watering time, I cant even drive normally anymore...I find myself with my eyes on the side of the road looking at plants in ditches and other people's yards, my kids claim I want to spend more time with my plants than them....well, my plants do bloom and pretty much behave as their supposed to, and no talking back! =)

I was thinking that containers sounded like the best bet for me, so I appreciate your reply on that. Any more advice on what brug or how to get started?
