The Final list...maybe
Hey P
Sorry I don't have experience with any of these. I do have a small plantlet of Buckeye's Colossal I just received about a week ago. I also have a leave down with babies of Pirate's Gold.
It never ceases to amaze me how many varieties there are.
"It never ceases to amaze me how many varieties there are."
Me too! I don't have *any* of the varieties on Red's wish list! :-)
I'm sorry you missed the date for this Bingo, but welome to the AV forum!
Nice list! I've got Blackberry Jam. It's growing great!
I've grown Blackberry Jam , April in Paris , B-Man's Taormina ( Love all B-man's they grow excellent !),
Buckeye Colossal,Golden Fountain,Irish Mint,Precious Rose,Sheer Romance, Pirate's Gold,
Sparkleberry
I've grown all of these and their all nice growing plants ! Great selection. Does the web sight where you bought them have pictures ? Also you might beable to see them on the AVSA photot gallery !
Why can't you play BingO ? I'm sure if you get your card into Don ASP sense the game has not started you can join in the fun!
Lyndon Lyons website has lots of drool worthy pix. I prefer other violet fans opinons to catalog/webpage pix on growing habits and real color. I have bought tons of av from LL back in the '80's when I was still growing to sell. Going to try to get small side biz of av started again so I need plants that will preform well for the average window seal grower.
V_T,I'm busy picking peas and selling. It's every morning thing until their all in. Must say though,I haven't had to shell many because they've been selling fast as I can pick them. One lady bought the entire 6 bushels I picked yesterday at $25.00 a bushel and I hope to have enough money at the end of pea picking to buy a chase(can't spell it)lounge for my new addition. Picking corn and catalope soon so no rest for the wicked.
What your opinon about the Golden Fountain and Pirate's Gold? I've had Golden Thumbs for a while and can't say I'm impressed. I believe I had Banana Split once apon a long time ago.

I would love another player for bingo, how bout you all?
Golden Fountain (S. Sorano) Double white large star/bluish-purple eye, yellow blush. Medium green, plain. Standard
Is very pretty but I don't think there's much yellow to see.
Pirate's Gold (S. Sorano) Double white fluted star/lemon-yellow blush. Medium green, quilted, wavy. Standard
I've fount had more yellow !
The more players for Bingo the more fun !
bigred, why don't you Dmail April and see if a late Bingo entry is OK with her? She won't start posting calls until the 10th, so it might be possible, although I know she wanted to leave a little time to make sure everything was all set before starting. It's her game, so it's her call.
If you miss this game, you'll just have to be sure to join in the fun for the next one!
With that selection of leaves, you'll be much sought after this spring when it's time to do plantlet trades!
I should be able to come up with some leaves for you this fall also, if you're interested. And I've got some plantlets available too, plus ears up on some new leaves, that I'd be happy to trade for sunny perennials this fall.... drop me a Dmail sometime, and I'll get a list to you. :-)
critter,
I wish I had time right now to play. I'm busy re-organizing my greenhouse, getting earlier blooming plants back in and rotating currant or soon to be blooming stock to the front of the display area. Still picking peas and hub's informed me last night, corns ready to start pulling. Oh yay!I'm not even done with peas so now I get to pull and shuck corn.I was hoping to make it to farmers market Sat. but that's out 'cause I'll be a shuckin' 'n grinnin'....LOL...need a bunch more freezer baggies.
Well, gotta run. Sun will be up soon. I have to pick peas before ladies for pilates session arrive at 10am.,guy coming to pick out tomato plants for his fall crop and still 5 qts. of peas to shell on a 10 qt. order.House is a wreck and I have garden club meeting in 4 days. YIKES!
P
critter,
give me some kind of idea on what sunny perennials you are looking for. I'm sure with two greenhouse and 2000sq.ft of display area I think I can come up with a few...LOL.My catalog is out of date. One of my projects for winter...update my catalog .
Got any of the plants/leaves on my list so I can mark them off and pick some subs from Lyndo Lyons?
P
Sorry that I didn't see this before. I have Mermaid. Lovely, grows well, moderately.
Catalog??? Bigred, please Dmail me asap! Even if it's out of date, I must know where to find your catalog!!
I'm afraid I don't have a single AV on your list!! Well, after all, there are thousands of them, and I have maybe 150 if you include leaves down.... but that's enough that I may have ones that are similar to some on your wish list! Take a look at my "haves" list, http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/581728/, and LMK if there are any you'd especially like me to start propagating for you. While you are there, post your own "haves" list! :-)
I have a list started of some of my extra plantlets and which leaves are putting up ears... I'll have to find that for you.
Oh yeah I forgot about Jill's catalogue! LOL Jill are you sure you aren't starting your own little AV nursery?
