Amorphophallus hybrid Maybe?

Louisville, KY

Well here is a picture of the rare Amorphophallus pygmaeus. A small species with velvet like leaves purple underneath and very color stems. I had around 4 blooming as well as a few other Amorphophallus and decided that a hybrid could be very interesting to make so put some pollen on it hopefully it takes. I put paeonifolius pollen on it.

And last but not least here is Paeonifolius pollen on the pygmaeus. It would be a strange hybrid if it takes manly because one is so small and the other one a huge grower. Not to mention how odd the flowers already look a hybrid between them is untelling.

If you come before in the morning time they are all blooming. I blelieve I have some tropical ones about to bloom also. The Lotus are blooming some of the new forms from china whites pinks and others. The canna field is blooming and so are a ton of new hybrids. I have put Alocasia borneo Giant pollen on about 5 macrorrhiza blooms so should have some seeds of that coming along so as well. Many of my Colocasia and Alocasia hybrids are starting to put on some size. The place looks a lot better than last time you were out.

Here is a pic of the cannas and all the other tropicals that I left out by the road. Most the cannas are 4 to 6 foot already and blooming and the bananas are around 4 to 5 feet tall. Some of the colocasias are starting to look like weed patches.

Did the pollination take?

Steve I got berries to form and swell up on all the plants. But once I started opening the berries they seeds were highly deformed. Only one plant produced a few seeds. I have them in a container now trying to sprout. I think the cross was a long streach but some of my others maybe doing much better we will see soon.
