Can a Bee join in?

I posted this in the ID forum too. I have lots of big black bees on this passiflora but this one is new to me.

It paid no attention to me and went its merry way. Any ideas as to what it might be?

that is so neat. I have never seen one. Or is it just pollen all over it. I have seen them with their legs all yellow where they stuff the pollen

Nope. This whole bee is yellow. It was pretty amazing looking. The black ones get alot of "golddust" on their backs and wings but this guy was gold to start with. He hung around all day on the 4th and kept us entertained. King hummer as unamused thaat we were hanging out watching him though. It was HOT and the hummer hangs out in the patio when the sun is high. We were a true nuisance.

It is a male carpenter bee. In all these years, I guess I have only seen the black females. I did not know the males were yellow.
