I know if Fl I don't really have to... as it will not "freeze" not in zone 10!
but should I to get the bulblets off the mother bulb?
what if I don't dig up my glad bulbs?
I don't think it would be too detrimental just to leave them in place but living where I do thats not a realistic option.
I leave mine in the ground. I had planted a mix but the only two that continue to show up year after year is alot of white and a few red. I've only disturbed them when I was cleaning up the iris. I've never done anything with the babies, but you could probably collect them and sow them in a sheltered spot until they get larger. Hopefully someone with more experience shows up with more accurate information.
I'd leave them alone until they got too crowded.
I had some that stayed in the ground for 5 years, up against the warm foundation. I had to lift them because many were at or near the surface and surely would have frozen.
There were many small bulbs and quite a few huge ones.
So dig them up every few years to thin them and amend the soil while you are at it.

I live in zone 5 and have never dug up my glads. They always come back and I know others who do the same thing.
I have never dug up my glads. I do need to add quite a bit of mulch to them this year because the are too close to the surface and are not standing tall. I just cut a bunch of them just ten minutes ago.
While doing this I was cleaning up the Freesia's and the baby bulblets were just popping off. These too were obviously planted to shallow. What should I do with these babies? Should I replant them now, or hold off for a while. I have never messed with them before. ANy help would be appreciated.
TIA

plant them... I put all my babies near their "mommy" bulbs.. they will grow and get bigger each season and then they will just flower and then make more bulblets!
