Fireworks and dogs....

Willits, CA(Zone 8a)

Everytime somebody shoots off fireworks we end up with a frightened run-away dog (not one of ours).
Last Christmas eve it was a little Jack Russell that came to visit.
Last New Years eve the neighbors dog ran away....it didn't come to our house but the neighbor did, looking for it.
And tonight as I was going out to fill up my dogs food bowls for the night...I open the back door and this huge wolf like creature came barging in the back door...scaring the #$%^ out of me.
It turns out it was just another frightened dog trying to get away from the fireworks....of course there is no tag because it slipped out of it's collar.
So now, what to do....wait until someone shows up for it? We all have to go to work tomorrow....and what about my big dogs? They were all quickly herded into various rooms and the doors shut on them. They cause quite a ruckus when they're all going wild at once!

Anyway, just venting......
I wish people would lock their dogs up in a secure place before they start shooting off fireworks. As soon as I hear the first one go off, I bring my dogs in and shut all the doors.

I guess I'd better go check on our guest......
