Finally some blooms on this one!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

This one snuck up on me and had 4 flowers today! I didn't pose this either, the lower branch was laying in the coleus beneath it.

I got this one from http://www.atouchofthetropics.net/index.html from David. His hibiscus makes my day!! Lali and I are going back soon. We just must have more. LOL I bet Zuzu wants to go back too.

This reminds me a lot of the rose Paradise.

Is that the one you want? Email him and ask if he has just 1 left and to hold it for me. He mails them too I think.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

You bet I want to go back there, Kell, and I want that Carmen Keene. It'll look great next to Paradise.

Kell please tell him to hold it for you and get it for me pretty pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee............ I will e-mail him to see if he still has one. I don't mind paying the price for the hibiscus but his shipping charges are through the roof. You could ship it to me for less than half of what he charges if it is not to much trouble to ask of you.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

His shipping charges are outrageous but remember, he ships large plants. I couldn't find any other reputable hibiscus grower that shipped plants that size. At my age, I can't afford to wait for a plant to mature anymore. LOL

Hope you find your Antique Treasure, you have been after that one for a while.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Ardesia, I am with you. I love buying time! LOL

I see him on Sundays at the farmers' market in Marin. I could pick it up there for you Donna in case we do not get to his GH real soon.

Zuzu, Lali wants to go too, so we need to make a road trip soon!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Buying time - Yeah, that's what I am doing. LOL

I wonder if my Dh will "buy" that one!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Kell can I add a 5th Demsion(spelling) to that order pretty please??

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell Me like that one too! I like the ones with colored edges.

Did you check the dbl pink ones?do you need fainting spell lessons, ya know I wrote the book on it!!LOL :-)

Kyle

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Actually Kyle, I saw a big bush yesterday near me!!!! I will try to catch the people outside to see if I can get some cuttings for you.

So if I faint outside their house, you think they will throw pink hibiscus cuttings on me to revive me?

If they throw enough it might work. LOL

Donna, I will check with him on that one. I need box packing lessons though. The last 4 boxes I sent last week, all said they were beaten up!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

the best way with a big plant is a bamboo pole from the bottom of the inside of the pot or bag to the top of the box and it can't go anywhere. Ask Susie to send you a pic of the box of stuff I shipped her today. She should have it by friday or saturday

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

That huge bush is fabulous Kell. Don't you wish they would all bloom that heavily - big sigh here.

Donna, David does ship his plants with 3 bamboo poles in each pot; maybe he will have some extra poles for Kell to use.

I can't believe you see all his beautiful plants at the Farmer's Market every weekend. Major envy, major envy....................

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

He is there every Sunday, but I only seem to have time to go about once a month. It is about 1 hour away.

I never thought of putting sticks in there!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

The sticks have to be the same length as the box. They brace the plant and keep it from moving around in the box. You also have to put some sort of packing material on the top of the soil and tape it to the pot to keep the soil in place. This is not nearly as hard as it sounds and the plant will arrive in perfect condition. (Can you tell I used to be involved with a large wholesale nursery that shipped?)

Still jealous. even if you only get to the Farmer's Market once a month, another big sigh...

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

So where do you find that big enough box? I wish the PO made a rectagular one. I wonder why they don't.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

They do. Set up an account with USPS, order online and the mailman drops them off. Here are all kinds of sizes.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Kell you can get 2 of the big triangle boxes and tape them together. I have done that lots of times. I did just order a box of the large and small triangle ones from the P.O. and they came is good size rectangle boxes that will be great for shipping.

You can do it by phone too 1-800-610-8734

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

If what you're shipping is little, they now have shoe-box sized ones, too. Wouldn't work for hibiscus, but for other things it might be good.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

yes the shoe box size is great. I am glad they came out with them. Beats having to fill a to big box full of paper and adding weight lol. I ordered a box of them too lol

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I wonder why they do not have a good size rectangle one.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I know what you mean. They really need to make one. You can put together 2 of the new shoe box ones and make a good rectangle box. They are really a nice size
