Hoyas near Bellingham WA.

Victoria BC, Canada(Zone 9a)

Hello everyone

Happy July 4th to all my American neighbors!
I am new here on Dave's and have been reading a lot of the previous posts that are jammed packed with a lot of information. Way to go everyone! I see there are many talented green thumbs out there.
I have been bitten like so many of you. I am heading to Bellingham in a couple of days and would like to shop.... what else but for hoyas and stuff. Could anyone please recomend any nurseries in the area that I should visit to find some hoyas. Are there any speciality ones? I have heard so much about Hormex and superthrive so I want to find that too. Where are the best places to look for that too. Perhaps there are some folks with collections that want to sell some cuttings:)
You get the idea... where should I look ? Any ideas or suggestions are most appreciated. Thanks so very much

Hi Bea,

I cant recommend any nurseries in Bellingham but I did find Superthrive at the Home Depot there and Eleanor's VF-11 at Rite Aid, all in the same strip mall...i am sorry, i dont remember the street but its the main drag in Bellingham....past Bellis Fair...if you do find any interesting hoyas there, please post them! I would be very interested to know.....Good luck hoya hunting!.

Sandy

Welcome to the wonderful world of hoyas Bea, and to Dave's Garden's hoya forum! I can't help you find anything local since I'm 3/4 of a continent away from you, but I can give you info on two places to get hoyas by mail order in Canada. Drop me a dmail if you're interested.

Welcome to the DG Hoya forum Bea. Did some backchecking and saw that you already had posted in the Canadian Gardening forum regarding Hoyas some time ago. Sorry missed that one and saw that you already got the few Hoya suppliers in Canada within that past post.
No help from my side on your request here and wish you best of luck on your shopping trip :)

Hey Bea...

When I was there a month or two ago, the Fred Meyer had NO hoyas...but you might get lucky at Home Depot. Eleanors, ST and Hormex are all pretty much available at the big box stores....

Now, just about 25 mins south in Mt. Vernon is Charlie's Greenhouse Supply...they don't have hoyas, but they have really nifty equipments, trellises, supports, etc. you will LOVE!!!

Have fun!!!

Thanks for such a nice warm welcome and all the great tips. I am finally all packed and heading out on the 9:00 ferry in the morning.
I am definately going to hit the box stores and look for that strip mall too. Charlie's sounds wonderful. Oh I think I am going to get lost browsing at his place:)
I have a digital camera so if I find something and I am sure I will ;) I will let you know.
Thanks again

Bea
