Aroid Forum

Wesley Chapel, FL(Zone 9a)

I asked Dave about starting a forum for Aroids - Elephant Ears, Caladiums, Philodendrons, etc.

Maybe the more people that chime in on it, the more likely Dave would be to listen.

It's in the Dave's Garden forum, and the thread is named "Aroid Forum?"

Let's all drop Dave a note and let him know how much we'd appreciate a forum on Aroids.

You are going to maybe not be happy on this, but one of the reasons that I wanted a musa forum is that hardly anybody does threads on musa in the tropical forum, but there are tons of threads on aroids here. In fact, I partly think of this forum as an aroid forum :) If there is a chance for only one new forum, I would have to go with the musa.

Caladiums are covered pretty extensively in the foliage forum-have you checked it out? I think philodendrums as well.

Between EEs, Philos, and Caladiums, there certainly seem to be plenty of DGers who grow these plants to merit their own forum.

Likewise for musa. I don't see any reason why it has to be one or the other. I would think Dave would consider a forum for any area where there's a lot of interest; it would be to DG's benefit to do so.

I tired to get a change made here myself, awhile back, see what happened. Thread under Dave's Garden, title 'Plant trading made easier'. I am not pushy or loud enough it would seem. I thought it was a good idea, expecially if you have ever been to the trade page.

I wouldn't think it would have to be one or the other, but the vibe I am picking up on is that it is very hard -or not a common event- to get a new forum- and perhaps it should be that way. I was just saying that a lot of people do talk about aroids in here, not musa so much, and that if I had to choose, I would like to see the musas encouraged, whereas the aroids already get a lot of attention. Maybe more people are interested in the aroids, but I am hoping that the musa would get more attention if more people realized that they could grow them in the lower zones. I hope it all works out to everyone's satisfaction! I love the aroids and would be a visitor for sure!
