There's gotta be a windproof potted brug!!

Sigh ... lost two blooms due to the wind this afternoon, and I have my brug sheltered between two houses. Good grief!! Is there a secret to keeping these guys from falling over in the wind? :(

Guy wires and stakes? Re-e-e-e-e-ally heavy pots? Putting 'em in the ground? Hmmmm.. I dunno. Since all mine are in containers, I'll be watching for some good answers.
Sorry you lost your blooms. Hopefully they'll be back and in greater numbers next time.

I had a guy in town, bend some quarter inch steel rod so it had a candy cane type end on it. He made most of them about 30 inches long. I put the straight end in the pot and down through one of the drainage holes and into the ground with the candy cane end hooked over the edge of the pot. I use about three to a pot and most are on the side the prevailing winds are coming from. The will hold up to 40 mph winds, but higher than that, the rods bend. I have found that they are easier to remove if they are on the outside of the pot, but they sure play heck with the line from the weed whacker.

That's brilliant, Brugie!!
I have rocks on the outer edges of the pot, but, obviously that does not work. Will have to get with a friend of mine and see what he can make for me.
Today the winds were about 20 - 25 MPH, and over she went. Now, she's in the garage with the garage door open because we're supposed to get more storms.

If your ground is really wet still, they won't hold very good, but better than nothing. We are bone dry here, so even pulling the stake out of the ground requires lots of strength and something to pull up with, like the claw of a hammer. Sounds like you have the right guy around there to help you with this. I think I paid my welder a dollar each. They only cost about a quarter for the material. LOL!
