It's my newest baby...at least until I get to that sale this weekend! I called Dave at A Touch of the Tropics to ask for the impossible. I told him I was looking for something that would get tall, not too bushy, was very shade tolerant, provide lots of blooms and would be something you didn't see on every sidewalk in the Garden District- a rather tall order.
But Dave's never one to shy away from a challenge, and he highly recommended the not very romantically named 10-37. It arrived in amazing shape, ready to pop!
Blooms are 6in across, so they're midsize, but in only 2 weeks, it's already grown quite a bit and has another 6 buds already.
Anyway, I figured somebody might have a similar shade/space issue, and so far I'd have to highly recommend this one.
Haven't seen this one posted before...
Tess, you will see huge blooms in Ten Thirty Seven. It can reach 9" in size.
David's plants have always extraordinary quality.
I recall that when Reg Cornwell, its hybridizer in Oz, decided to register it he hadn't a name for it yet. When he received the data sheet (it was 1983 and nobody knew what Internet was) it had 1037 as the identification number, so he decided to name it as 1037 or Ten Thirty Seven as we know it.

Thanks, Caros, you've always got the inside scoop!
Really, so interesting!
I love David's hibiscus too. I catch him at a farmer's market here and am planning another trip to his greenhouses. We had such fun there.
Your hibiscus is a real beauty!!
very pretty Tess.
Hey Kell please, please, please check for Antique Treasure for me when you go
Ok, Lali when we go remind me to email David to see if he has this one. I just know I will forget the name. Lali won't though!
Very nice, I like the ruffles on the edges.
Tess that bloom is pretty. Thanks for the info.
