Totally weird weather!!!

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

I can't believe it!
I got woken up this morning at 7 am by both some sound and the cats.
Keep in mind I am hard of hearing and wear a hearing aid.
Well, I got up and looked outside.

It was:
HAILING,
LIGHTENING,
and felt THUNDER!!!

That Thunder is what I felt and the cats went wild with the thunder and lightening!!!

Here is a picture that I took of the hail. It is like 61 degrees too???? Unreal!

What is next for weather this year????

It woke me up too! Such a weird noise. Hadn't heard that in a long time! I didn't notice any hail down here though. I couldn't believe how the rain was coming down. I almost left the lawnmower out last night but I guesss it was a good thing I put it away!

It thundered and lightening'ed here too at 04:40 -05:15. Very cool! I miss the thunderstorms from my midwest days, but not the smashing hail and tornadoes.

Of course with nothing but sun/partly cloudy predicted for the next week, I DID leave the pull behind cart full of compost/fertilizer, shovels/hoes and the chipper/shredder outside. I doubt we got even near 1/8th of an inch of rain though, so they should dry out well.

Nice to have our dusty leaves freshened up by a bit of rain, though.

Well it really surprised me too! I was just about to do some watering and heard the thunder and then the lightning. I thought Gee.. I better wait and let nature take care of it for me...LOL
Well we got a little bit of rain and some hail and wind. Then it left as quick as it began.

The thunder and lightning stuck around for awhile. Snapped a shot looking out towards my street under the safety of my carport. LOL I was worried if we had big hail it would ruin my Brugs.
It didn't!!

Crazy, eh? We went to bed with the window open, only to awake at 4AM to sounds of thunder, then again at 6AM with more thunder and heavy rain. Nice to get the pollution washed out of the air a bit. Had to go outside and enjoy the "fresh" morning smell. :-)

Happy Independence Day!

I wish we had gotten some of the rain. We heard thunder from afar, but nothing else. Dotti

Hmmm... I just discovered I left the windows on my truck open a couple of inches last night. After all, we had been sweatin' in the heat for the last couple of weeks...:-( (no, I haven't opened the door yet to see what's inside)

Funny, funny, pard...
Well, we did have some good rain. I ended up planting my last bit of my annuals that I grew from seed and didn't have the heart to toss in the compost pile. The soil was nice and wet for me!
It is so hot and muggy out now tho. Sigh, what will the weather be like next, I wonder??? Or even for the rest of the summer?

We had rain for about 20 minutes yesterday along with plenty of thunder, but it went away quickly and had nice high clouds so the kids could enjoy the fireworks. Was actually nice and cool evening on the penninsula last night.

Yes, it was actually cool last nite for once in the last 3 weeks of hot weather. I put on a sweatshirt to walk around the neighborhood to see each other's fireworks.

West Richland, WA(Zone 7a)

We watched the fireworks over the Columbia River in Columbia Park last night and nearly died from heat exhaustion! It just refused to cool off over on our side of the mountains. We actually had humidity, which we never have, and boy was everyone complaining. It was slightly cooler right on the river path but yuck, yuck, yuck! The wind finally kicked in about 10:30 and we say lightning competing with the fireworks but unfortunately no rain! It was well over 100 degrees yesterday and overcast for much of the day. It is not supposed to be this hot already in the year!!!!!!
