Could i be a hoya

Hi!
My lovely friend got me this plant for my birthday, and well she was sure it is a hoya, but im not so sure. Could it possibly a philodendron??
Any ideas??

Leaves don't look 'opposite' to me...which is one of the indicators of Hoya. Also, Have never seen growth with such a red stem..but then, I haven't seen em all!....lol

If you can find a stem you don't mind damaging, see if it bleeds white sap.
Hoyas are members of the milkweed family and most of them have that white sap. However....that is not always the case either as carnosas don't.
There are exceptions to all the rules. Ha

Leaves are alternating along the stem on this plant thus it is not a Hoya.
Pepperomia comes to mind but the nodes where the leaves are on the stem do not look right.

Nope, no white when broken..awh darn not a hoya. :)

Your right they are not alternating...

Maybe i will post in the houseplants and see if anyone else knows...

It resembles Ardisia crispa (coral berry).

I can't find any photos of the ardisia crispa where the stems are red, and they have alot of veining that mine doesnt...good thought thou!! Thanks!!
