Plumerias at Lowe's in Missouri

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

My friend and moderator of PlumeriaPals, Scott, wrote this today:

"They are selling plumerias at Lowe's in Kansas City! They are from Green Valley Growers in Willis, Texas, which is a little north of Houston. There were about 50 on the table -- tags saying yellow, white, pink, etc. They were selling them for $9.95. We figured they importing them from Mexico or something for .50 cents ea. Maybe a foot tall. Bruce and Joyce were also in Springfield, Missouri, and saw them at Lowe's also."

Clare, a local grower here in years past use to buy cases of 12 inch plumies from Mexico sorted by colors only, some were really awesome others,,,BLAH !! don't know where they find them in such numbers in Mexico.they looked like cases of Cigars, all neat and trimmed and stacked.

Neat, Kyle! I know some people have mentioned that they never see them offered at the big chains near them so I wanted to give people a "heads up" who might live within travelling distance. There are a lot of plumerias that come in from Mexico here and in Texas too. I don't know where they find them either, but I assume that Vera Cruz Rose was found in Vera Cruz, Mexico. Some hybrids are quite stunning as you said. This is Cancun Dreams, a Mexican variety that was collected by C-Stars Nursery, a wholesale nursery here in Southern California.

Most of the ones we got locally in the past had narrow leaves small flowers, and not much fragrance.Once in a while a good one would slip thru.
