Sunday, July 2nd...Faux Bois bench update

Tomball, TX

Hi Guys & Gals --- Here are a few more pix showing the work to date. Just about finished with all the "wire work". This is by far the bloodiest part of the work and my hands & forearms are pretty thoroughly shredded. That's what I get for hurrying. Should be able to start on the first layers of concrete on Monday or Tuesday. Then it becomes a real chore to lift. I love doing this, but can't honestly recommend large projects like this for anyone working alone with a low pain threshold...or a bad back (like mine). If it's true that artists are supposed to suffer before their work really has any depth...then mine oughta' have a lot of it! My friend Carlos Cortes & I were joking last fall about how much of our blood winds up in our work. We decided that at some point in the future, if any art historians ever want to authenticate our work...they can absolutely do it through all the DNA that's mixed in with the concrete! Anyhow...here's the latest...

...this shows the 1" x 1" galvanized wire cloth that's attached to the frame first...
