Macho Fern Anyone?

Chapin, SC(Zone 7b)

I need to clean out my fern bed and will have some extra. I would like to trade for these but will send for postage if no trades develop. These grow well and get huge when mature. They fill in shady spots quite nicely.

I would be interested if these are cold hardy. probably don't have anything to trade, but you can put me on the list for postage if they are.

I would be interested in purchase if they grow in my area?

Chapin, SC(Zone 7b)

froggie,

You're not zone 9-11. They wouldn't last outside. Sorry.

LaLambchop, I don't have anything to trade, but will happily do postage if that still works for you.

Chapin, SC(Zone 7b)

Hi,

That would be fine. If you'll send postage for a priority box I'll get them right out to you. I'll need the square box as these are quite large for ferns and I'll have to kind of wind them around.

Here's my address:

Excellent and THANK YOU. I have a nice shady spot all picked out.

>>I'll need the square box

Just checked the USPS site -- is that the $8.10 box? (Don't hesitate to tell me if it's wrong, I just wasn't clear from the info on their site.)

Thanks again. ;)

Just wanted to bump this to make sure I send you enough postage money.

Chapin, SC(Zone 7b)

Woops! Sorry about that. It's not the flat rate box. I think just the cubed priority will do better for you. I did an estimate for 3# and it was $5. If you'll include that with your name, addy, etc. I'll go from there.

I'm so glad you can use this. It's lovely fern. It is invasive but easily pulled up. My addy is in the exchange.

Thanks, Leslie! It will be on its way to you tomorrow (I was out of town the past day and a half)...

And I'm so glad you'll send it! I love ferns and have a really good spot for them, but I'm just getting started in that area...

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Beautiful ferns arrived today - Thanks so much. Now to find a large enough basket for them! I think they will look great on my newly rebuilt deck.

Clearwater, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh, the ferns arrived today and they look very happy and healthy! The only thing keeping me from planting them right this very moment is Fear of Death By Lightning Strike. ;)

Thank you so much for your generosity.

Chapin, SC(Zone 7b)

Azalea and ShelfLife,

I'm glad they arrived OK. I was concerned as I hadn't mailed them before. Please do me a favor and let me know how they grow for you. If you need more just let me know.

leslie, do you know if they survive as far north as Jackson,MS ? Although I am in zone 8 a lot of stuff grows here that grows in 9. Just wondered. I don't have that fern and would love to have a start.

GRRRR. I just wrote out a reply and then sent it into space with the wrong key.

I don't know about your zone, but as you can see above, I sent some to Azalea who's in zone 7b. She's going to put it in a large lined basket on her deck and take it in when it gets cold. You could do something like that.

What I said in my much more eloquently worded original reply was that I'd love to trade for any extra of your gorgeous daylilies if possible, but would also gladly just send you some of this. Your pictures have brought me so much pleasure I have developed a special fondness for you and would love to add beauty to YOUR life!

Leslie
