AVs with girl leaves

How many AVs have girl leaves? I can't help but be curious, as I've been window shopping at the two leaf sales Allison posted about. I simply adore girl leaves!! Is that something one with FC could do a search for?
Thanks bunches!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Hi Amy
FC has on it's way to 600 girl leaf foliage AV's ! But there are many not in FC.

Wow! I never dreamed there would be that many! Nevermind working toward the *whole* collection! LOL
Thank you for the info, Allison!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Shiawasee Trail is also a Sport of Ramblin' Lassie (9022) 03/23/2001 (S. Sanders/R. Brenton) Semidouble blue-lavender star. Variegated medium green and white girl foliage. Semiminiature trailer
>>
I've grown several Ramblin' Lassie too ! Of course it's really an oldie to if Shiawasee Trail is a registered sport of.

I just stumbled across Shiawasee Trail yesterday. First time I'd ever seen it. I searched for it here at DG and found all the threads and pics posted here of it. I must have just missed those. What a beauty! Ramblin' Lassie is too! Looking at those leaf sales you posted really got me to looking at pictures of a bunch of AVs I've never seen, or perhaps never noticed, before. Lots of fun!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Maybe Nanna would give you a couple of her Shiawasee Trail leaves !
I can send you a plant of Simplicity , Silly Girl ( I got two ), I think I have babies of Ma's Melody Girl and Optimara Meg I can send you.
I didn't send you leaves of Ella's Peach Blossom ? I need to check it out as it has several suckers !
Mini Minx a hard one to get...I've grown so many but gave them away or sold. They sell high on Ebay ~
I just took mine aprat and made it into three small more or less sucker babies. So if they grow well you may have one ! It's a Vintage girl with green edge.
I was looking fount one from Jill I forgot to write name on :((
Bad Girl is growing real slow it's Senk Wasp I promised Jan " Jannish" one she loves wasp...Have to see maybe I'll get more than one baby ?
I know I have more girlies hiding on the stands. lol

No, you didn't send Ella's Peach Blossom. You sent Ruth's Girl leaves, which are absolutely gorgeous and what got me to looking for more girls in the first place! LOL You also sent Orchid Girl and Wonderous Girl leaves back in January, and a Sassy Shell plant in January. My new lights are really helping the babies grow, and seems like I recall taking a baby from both Orchid Girl and Wonderous Girl in just the last couple days. I'll have to look. I'll post pictures of them in a bit.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

That's wonderful ! I have to grow my girl plants either the end of the light tubes or in natural light. Leaves down under lights any where is fine.
I do love them so !

Here's Sassy Shell. She was one of the ones who pouted and basically just stopped growing once she arrived here. She's picked up now, though. I think she was too cold and not getting enough light. She missed you!! I've learned so much since I received that first box from you, Allison!

Oh she's cute. Was she in your first box ? If so she must have been cold. As she is so tiny. Glad you saved her. When they are cold they just sit there and don't grow .. Which is not good for leaf pots, baby plants, adult plants. We fought all Winter keeping my plants warm. Now it's so hot A/C runs non-stop our electric bill this month was twice the amount as last month :((

Silver Spring, MD

I'd be happy to send some Shiawasee leaves. I also have Optimara's Meg.

Just d-mail me your address. Be very happy to share some leaves.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I've got ears up on 2 leaves of 'Ella's Peach Blossom' that Allison sent me... so with luck I'll have at least one extra plantlet! I think I marked all the girl foliage ones on my "haves" list, and I'll make a note that you're interested in them. I think we were focusing on blue/purple flowers with our first trade, so I'll see about putting together a "girl foliage" box for you this fall!

I have bunches of 'Cambridge Missy' plantlets coming along well, plus some 'Silly Girl', I think a couple of 'Peppermint Girl', maybe an extra 'Madeleine', some suckers of 'Sure to Please', and then I've got leaves down of quite a few others (and ears are starting to pop!).

Sassy Shell was cold, I think, Allison, and not getting enough light either. She's bigger than when I got her, but not much, but she is starting to really grow now that I've got her in that east window. Seems to be very happy there.
Ramblin' Ruby has grown like a weed though. Let me see if I can find the picture of when I first got her...

Thumbnail by RainGazer

And here she is today. There are several tiny buds on her, too! I can't wait to see the blooms!

Thumbnail by RainGazer

nanna, thank you so much! I'll dmail you!

critter, that sounds wonderful! My husband finally got my permission to cut down the foliage of the daffs this week, so I've got them marked to dig for you later on. I'd threatened everyone who even looked at the weedeater that they'd better not touch that foliage, because they were storing up energy for a DG friend! LOL We'll have another wonderful trade!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

:-D

'Ramblin' Ruby' is a beauty! There goes my resolution to do fall trades just for outside plants.... I wonder if that's one you're propagating? ;-)

Of course! I have at least two leaves down, maybe more. Here's the one that's really showing off. I'd be tickled to send you a plantlet. They should be plenty big enough by the time we trade, don't you think?

Thumbnail by RainGazer

Here's a Wonderous Girl plantlet, still with the Mom leaf. I need to pot it up, but I also need the time to do so! LOL

Another Wonderous Girl, freshly taken from Mom and repotted.

And here's an Orchid Girl baby.

Amy you have the best babies ! They all grew in good time for you also ! Great growing !

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Ramblin' Ruby (6483) 02/07/1987 (E. Champion) Double wine. Variegated, plain. Standard trailer
Almost a vintage ! And you don't see her often. I need to put a few leaves down of her today also !

They are not growing as quickly as I'd like. I want full grown blooming plants by now! LOL God is still teaching me patience. :o) That Ramblin' Ruby leaf pictured above was put down on 3-30, so it's doing pretty well. The other one has ears up, but not like that one!
I believe my Sassy Shell leaf has ears up, too, but I couldn't find it when I walked in there a minute ago. I know it's there, but I'd have had to take all the tubs down to find it and that would have required setting down my cup of coffee. Not happening! LOL I'll find it later today. It almost seems to me that babies I have grown seem to do better than the mother plants I took the leaves from. Well, some varieties, at least, not all of them. Do you find that to be true? Maybe it's because they're being raised in my home conditions so they're better adjusted to it. Is there any truth to that, do you suppose?

Here's an Orchid Girl (with a dime for size comparison) that I intended to leave with the Mom leaf but it came away as I was separating the larger plantlet. It has some roots of its own, so I thought I'd give it its own tiny cup and see if I can get it to live. How cute is this?? This was done on the 30th and it's still looking pretty good today, so keep your fingers crossed for her.

Don't know how humidity is in your house; but it might be a good idea to put her in a zip lock bag for awhile.

What do the rest of you think?

Humidity is at 75% in the living room right now. Our thermostat has a humidity meter built in it. She's on a shelf with all the other leaves and babies in the kitchen, so humidity should be at least that in there, especially considering the dishwasher runs in there, cooking, etc. I debated about the bag, and may still put her in one, but I have trouble with plants and leaves rotting in bags, so I just don't really know whether to or not. I'm keeping a very close eye on her, peeking at her several times a day (literally 8-10) for any signs of wilt or rot, giving just a few drops of water at a time, just keeping the soil barely moist. I'm so nervous that something will happen to her and she won't make it!

That picture above was taken on July 1. Here's one I just took. What do you think? Does she still look alright?

Thumbnail by RainGazer
Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

She looks fine. Small but fine. Your home humidity is high I would say no bag needed. Don't over water but don't let it dry out or it's tender roots will die.

Silver Spring, MD

I agree with Allison.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

How are the many girl leaf plants doing !!!! I know I sent many, many different leaves and plants with girl leaves !
