CLOSED: Desperately Seeking: Chinese Lantern-Hibiscus schizopetalus

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I just saw a picture of the plant "Hibiscus schizopetalus" and think I'm in love!
I would be SO grateful to anyone who happens to have a rooted cutting of this plant to share.
I have many plants and am sure I could find something to offer in trade and would be tickled pink to try growing one of these in my new house!

Thank you in advance,
Kim

Kim I have these, they are seasonal bloomers, and grow very large and weeping in habit.

Is this white and red? I have never seen that one.

OMG Eclipse! I would LOVE to have a rooted start of it if you have any to spare! What do you like to grow that I could interest you in?

PLEASE let me know if you have any to share, I would GREATLY appreciate it. We are getting a new house with 2 bay windows and I would LOVE to try this plant!

Thank you so much!

I have an absolutely STUNNING Japanese Iris in blom right now that I have 2 nice sections of that I would share with you. Although I don't know the name of it, she sure is a beauty and does great here in zone 5 Maine outside. I can take a picture of her for you tomorrow during the day. OR I have some very quaint Campanula Punctata "Elizabeth" which has some babies I could send you a couple of. This is a very pretty plant also but multiplies like crazy. It's on of those ones you don't mind multiplying though. Here are her pictures:

Let me know if either of these interest you OK? I will post a picture of my Japanese Iris tomorrow.

Logee's Greenhouse has this plant, in case you can't find someone to trade with.

Thank you for the link but I'm trying to find it without having to pay for the plant AND then almost as much as the plant for shipping & handling. I find trades are the BEST way to do this and also meet the nicest people by trading. Most of my plants are from trades and I prefer it over buying from online sources as most of the time the plants are healthier (in my opinion). I found one on E-Bay also but it's going to cost me almost $20.00 to buy and then pay shipping. I'm already trying to save a $21.00 Aeonium I bought on E-Bay :(

Here is an updated picture of my Campanula Elizabeth in bloom this morning. Notice all the babies around her. She is very agressive in producing offspring but I wouldn't be without it. The leaves are almost Violet like so it's pretty even when not in bloom.

Sandy the flowers are a pale rose and lighter on the backsides, the flash made the colors look that way.Although I did see once that a white form did exist.

YIPPPPEEEEEE thanks to Eclipse, I will close this thread and look forward to my new baby!

I can't thank you ENOUGH and wish you could see me doing the "I'm getting a Hibiscus" dance right now!

I look forward to trying to grow this plant rather than just drooling over pictures :)

Thank you again Eclipse! Returned your D-Mail just a few minutes ago.

Eclipse, do you have a photo of the entire plant? I'd love to see what this one looks like in full. Nearly all the images I've seen are just of the lovely flower.

Tiffany, the plant grows wide and rangey so hard to take a good pic of the plant I'll see what I have..

She is just BEAUTIFUL! I bought a HUGE pot for her with a bottom watering spout so I can water from the bottom. She is going to have plenty of room to spread her toes out! I can't wait for her to get home now!
