What is this plumie?? it has 3 inch flowers, sweet heavy scent, and dull green large leaves. Was a donation years back, was told it was brought back from Hawaii and was supposed to be deep yellow.well ..it ain't yellow! LOL
Clare help??
yu got that rite!! LOL
Well, about all I know is that it is gorgeous! There are thousands of hybrids in Hawaii, and I don't recognize that as being one of the 600 or so registered named ones. Is that center really a dark orange? It is a beauty and a keeper for sure. Maybe you should name it and register it as "Kyle's Eclipse." I like it!
LOL, Hetty! That is a good one!
looks like one of Evelyn;'s pinks
Clare, thats the neat thing about this one is the orange center.Indoors(greenhouse) the flowers are brighter pink.
At first, it reminded me of Charlotte Ebert, also known as Giant Plastic Pink, but I think that is a Florida Colors's hybrid that they grew from seed, and CE has larger flowers. I went through the gallery at the PSA, and yours resembles "Margaret's Pink" slightly (which I've never heard of before), but you would have to compare the plants side by side to compare the other plant characteristics like growth habit. Yours looks like it could be a paler pink than "Margaret's Pink." I don't know the history on "Margaret's Pink," like where she found it or if it is a seedling or what. Here's the picture: http://plumeria.digitaltexas.com/galleries/gallery.asp?action=viewimage&categoryid=3&text=&imageid=411&box=&shownew= Tillie Hughes is another possibility: http://plumeria.digitaltexas.com/galleries/gallery.asp?action=viewimage&categoryid=3&text=&imageid=531&box=&shownew= but I think your center is more orange than the one that Tillie Hughes has. Regardless of whether it is a named cultivar or not, it is a beautiful flower and worth holding on to. It will fit in perfectly in that gorgeous tropical yard of yours.
Edited to add: my greenhouse makes the colors more intense too. The heat and humidity tends to make the colors darker and richer, especially the reds.

I'll take some more pics of the stems(kinda felty not smooth) and the leaves. Probably a seedling. I have the original plant which has a thick trunk and is about 7 ft tall now, I just cut it way back this spring.it has three main trunks(secondary) and now about 9 or more shoots branching from those.
Wow, it sounds like a really good grower. Awesome! I bet that you are right that it is probably a seedling. I really like the colors. You might consider naming it and registering it with the PSA: http://www.theplumeriasociety.org/dyncat.cfm?catid=2000 You could also name it after the woman who donated it originally.
Gorgeous!
Kyle, my Treasure Isle is blooming right now, and it looks a lot like your flower. I'll compare them side-by-side when yours blooms. I think we may have a match. Treasure Isle is a popular Florida plumie. I'll post a picture here tomorrow, and you can tell me what you think.
Clare, check the fragrance against each other too! :-)
Kyle
Kyle, I was wrong and spoke too soon without re-examining them both. I re-examined them both today, and your cultivar has hairy/fuzzy new leaves, and T.I. new leaves don't. Your flower center is more orange, and T.I.'s flower center is more yellow. I can't wait to see your blooms!
**SIGH** well I may have to give it a name someday....LOL
Kyle :-)
Definitely! Let me know if you want my help. Hmmmm. How about "Kyle Courtney's Tequila Sunrise"? LOL!
