tropical lily "miami rose"

Pickens, SC(Zone 7a)

This is the tropical lily for those of you who wish you had one but dont really have a pond big enough..

I love tropicals but boy do they take up alot of room in the pond. I had several last year that I had to get rid of because they were just too big....this plant blooms hot pink and has cute speckled pads.. it is a tropical and if you live in a cold area you will have to treat is as an annual or devise a way to overwinter. I could ebay them but it is sooo hot to mail them across the country.

I would be interested in making a few trades... if you have something I really want.

Now thats not as ugly as it might sound but I just mean that I dont want to send my lily and pay $5 postage unless it is a plant that I need.
Named plants only - nothing invasive or "seedy" :)
Please be sure you have seen it bloom.

not really looking for more tropicals... unusual hardies...unusual marginals...hosta I dont have.. daylilies... TB iris etc.

I think I have about 5 small starts...cant afford to trade them all but Dmail me if you are interested...

thanks
charlotte

I have what was supposed to be Colorata but the bloom has been rather white and I thought Colorata was bluer..

Colarata is VERY blue almost purple . it was deep green pads and is not a vivi . If your plant is a vivi I would bet its a blue daubin .which has light blooms that fade almost to white in the hot sun .
I wish I could go out and take a pic but mine got shaded out and I lost it .I need to replace it this season as it is a lovely lily .
have you seen Seans dixie cup water lily growing method on the Victoria adventure site ? Its basically an easy way to bonsai tropical water lilies .you might find this worth giving a try . here is the link;

The guy I got mine from is a very good ponder...he may have gotten this tag mixed up... I will have to contact him and see what's what...he is or was in louisiana near New Orleans so I have not wanted to bother him...
