Guess how much I paid!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have been wanting a tree so much......now I have one. LOL

I probably paid too much but I thought I got a deal.

It has buds on each tip.

I also bought a 2 gallon one. I got it home and saw these large areas of brown on the inner side of the top stems. Do you think it has the plague? I must have been in la lal land not to have noticed them in the nursery.

Another shot.

Wow...that is NICE sized!!!

Davie, FL(Zone 10b)

Are we suppose to guess?
I say $120 knowing how nuseries jack the price..

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Oh Kell, that tree has such a beautiful shape and buds too! Congratulations on a great find no matter what you paid. Life only goes around once.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Great looking tree, Kell! Won't it be a show stopper when it is in bloom!!!!

Lovely tree. The brown patches are sunburn and they won't cause any trouble.
I guess you paid $ 100

I'm going to guess 29.95. Any idea what color they will be?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Kell, first, congratulations on your plumie finds! Hetty is right that the brown is sunburn and not detrimental to the plumie. Are those three rooted cuttings together in the same 15-gallon container, or is that one plumie with lots of branches? Knowing what nurseries charge for large plumerias, I will say $250 for the 15-gallon, and $40 for the two-gallon one. That is about typical of prices in nurseries down here. If you paid less than that, then you got a deal. Ardesia is right: it is a great find no matter what you paid. You deserve a little pampering right now so you deserve them! We are going to need to see those blooms when they open! Congrats, hon!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Crystal. I wish. It is in a 15 gallon pot.

Oh good Dutch lady, they are so dark and look like dead wood. I was thinking of bringing it back. I paid too much for it to get a damaged plant.

I paid $89. Which is what they were changing for a much smaller pot. I thought I got a deal. They had at least 200 plumies for sale, mostly 1 gallon pots. Only one in a 15 gallon can.

Its name is Playful. Anyone heard of it?

I think they goofed big time on this one, Clare. It was not marked so the lady came out and glanced at a 5 gallon pot behind lots of 1 gallons and said oh it is the same as that, $89. I said well "OK!!!" LOL

Hi Kell! For a 15-gallon, you got a good deal. 'Playful' is a C-Stars Nursery cultivar and is from Mexico. 'Playful' is a light pink flower with a great fragrance that is known for having six or more petals occasionally. Someone once posted a ten-petalled 'Playful,' which is a real anomaly. My 'Playful' is about to bloom, and I'll post pictures when it does. C-Stars has cultivars like 'Playful,' 'Lipstick,' 'Pacific Pearl,' and 'Cancun Dreams,' among others. I took a tour of their warehouses last summer. It was awesome! Here is Ken's picture of 'Playful' below for you to see. You did good, Kell!

THANKS Clare. I was hoping for a darker color like in the picture, but I just want lots of blooms! LOL They had all those plumies you mentioned there for sale. The 1 gallons were on sale for $14.99 and the 2 gallons were $29.99. They were at Armstrongs, Hawaiin Days sale. Do you have Armstrongs in your area?

My 2 gallon is a lavender with white trim. I can't think of the name right now.

WOW that first 'Playful' anomaly is too cool. Lets hope. LOL

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Here is one more picture showing the 'Playful' anomaly below. Yes, I think there is an Armstrongs about 20 miles south of me, and I think I went there last summer to buy some one-gallon ones when they were having a sale also. GreenThumb/Green Arrow nursery is about 20 miles north of me, and they had them too last year. HD here had them too. C-Stars is one of only a few wholesale suppliers of plumerias to the nurseries and chains here in California. Your lavender is probably either Lady Red or Lavender Splash, both of which are actually light pinks which fade to a nice lavender color. If you want a darker pink, get one of their one-gallon ones called 'Lipstick' or 'Princess Maya."

Here is 'Princess Maya.' It has a strong peach fragrance.

That was James's picture of Princess Maya above. He was the one that arranged the C-Stars nursery tour for us. Here is 'Lipstick.'

This is James's picture of 'Lavender Splash.' Also, remember that the more heat and humidity you give these plumies, the darker you flowers will be. Heat really brings out the red pigment in particular.

Here is my 'Cancun Dreams' picture. This one of C-Stars has to be my favorite:

I like this one of theirs very much too. It is 'Lady Red.'

Well shoot, now I want Princess Maya. Are you going to send me back there? LOL. They also have Tropical Hibiscus for their Hawaiian Days............. I went nuts. I dare not go back. LOL

I forgot to mention they had hot begonias too that were a must have. Thank God their EEs had not come in or had already gone out.

THANK YOU for such a great picture show Clare!!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Go back and get a 'Princess Maya!' LOL! It's the gaudy one that you are looking for;-)

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

Congrat's Kell. Sounds like you got a good deal. Be sure to post pictures when those blooms open up.

Patty

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks Patty!

Oh Clare, you are so bad. So naughty. Such a plumie pusher.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

ROFLOL! That's a good one: "plumie pusher." Guilty as charged! LOL! Here's another 'Princess Maya' fix!

Ah Clare....she got you there!! Too funny!! LOL

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

I resemble that!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes you do resemble that remark, Clare. LOL So true.

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll second that! Clare I received the AG and MR from FC. The MR is in bloom and the AG has an inflo with buds.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

That is so cool, Scoolie! Yay! Please post pics of them if you can and let us know what you think of the fragrance. Those two are said to be two of the best ones for fragrance -- along with Celadine, of course -- with the MR smelling of coconut suntan lotion and the AG smelling of fresh peaches.

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Love my Miami Rose...The Celadine has lots of leaves but no inflo yet.
