assexual propagation of gladioli

Cordele, GA

Can gladioli be reproduced by fragmentation? Lilies can reproduce by scale separation. I seem to remember in the dark ages before tissue culture that some cormous plants could be propagated by cutting through the corm from tip through basal plate. The plant healed the damage and produced 2 to 4 plants depending on the size of the corm and cut sections.

Does anyone have any info, knowledge, experience in this.

I am going to guess you are talking about gladiolus bulbs??? sorry I'm new to the proper terms....

If that is it.. just plant them... the will form bulblets.. and then once the greens have all gone to brown.... You can dig them up and pull the bulbs apart. very easy! I put on bulb in.. I just dug it up and now I have 3 of them! Very cool!

They will spread like nuts if you let them.
