Just thinking about Miss Kitty's thread on Hoya names and clone numbers.....This beauty is labeled H. sp. 1198, obviously a species plant then.. Anyone know if the 1198 is actually David Liddles IML number. I suppose it would be IML 1198 = ?
What hoya section would it belong to?
It's a beautiful plant, slow growing, easy to please. It hasn't flowered yet and if growth habit means anything I think it will be a long long time before it flowers. The leaf shape and veins remind me somewhat of H. vitellinoides without the wavy edges. It's a deep green color with heavy specking.
Can anyone tell me more about this plant?
H. sp. 1198
Susan on DL list ll98 is an unidentified species . IPPS7021 'Sumatra' dark green veined leaf 15cm veined leaf, reflexed gold flowers. Hope that helps. I'm sure if you e-mailed him he would gladly send you any information and a photo of the flower. Where did you get if from? The flower sounds like it will be very pretty
I can't help with the the number, but it sure is a groovy plant. Where'd ya get it?

Susan...it is H. sp. IML 1198...or H. sp. 1198 IML 1198...it comes from David Liddle. I do find that it gets kinda sick looking in high light...doesn't like tons of water. I have a peduncle on one...will share when she blows...uh, blooms!!!
Ann, I got it from the Pimpette of course!
Carol, yes please share a photo when it blooms. Would love to see what it looks like. I keep it in low light under the over hang on my roof. I think it gets one new leaf every year. Long spaces between the internodes just like H. vitellinoides and H. cinnamomifolia.
I think I've had it for about two years now and it's still in the original pot that came from Carol. I usually don't up root/repot until it's absolutely necessary. I might chunk a little top dressing of soil mix in to compensate for soil loss when watering.
