Thanks Joanne I am always taking off leaves and cutting big crowns off.
OMG! She is so beautiful. I just love her. You have done a great job taking care of her. What a wonderful plant.
Jesse
Thanks Jesse. Did I give you one ? If not can put one in your box !
She has only bloomed once. But spending all her time growing and finding new homes to fit her just right ! Maybe in a month she will be settled and bloom.
I did order some of Dyna-Gro bloom food to try to help her get a boost. I never use this stuff but thought for a few plants I can't get to bloom and for vareigated plants I'd try it !
Very nice, Allison. Mine has stopped growing for the time being. I think it's because I stopped fertilizing for awhile. I just gave everyone a drink of fertilizer this week so things should perk up.
It will grow soon for you Nanna !
I have not fed anyone for about 5-6 months :((. But my soil does have fertilizer in it.
This plant has grown crazy for me. Right now I have another dozen leaf cups and several large crowns potted up I took off of her. I have been able to share her a lot .
Now to get her flowering
I am so happy I ordered these pots from Bloombrids to try. I ordered the package I think three each of 6 and 8 inch to see how they are. They are so cool and the picture on Bluebrids does not do them justice. I like them better than pan pots now. I must order some more !
Allison,
No you did not give me one but I sure would love one. Yours is absolutely stunning. And my other wish is Aussie Alice for my sweet hubby. He likes anything from AU. I have bought him a few schefflera and they died because I did not water them. So I just bought him a new one that is mostly yellow. He likes it a lot and he loves the AVs that I get for him. I've noticed that he is really beginning to like the epicias a whole lot. I just showed him a Butter Blue strep and the Episcia Metallica. I thought for sure that he would like the strep better but he didn't. He likes the episcias better.
Is there a way that we can all make an official trade list of things we want but also things we have to trade. Maybe make a form of some sort with two columns, one for wants and one for haves. Most any of my plants are big enough to at least send a couple leaves to someone and I also have several babies that are now probably big enough to ship out. And I have 100 leaves down that are starting to make babies. So it would be cool if there was a place where we could find both things that we want and things that we have to share. Maybe this could also include our addresses in case someone wants to ship us some things to surprise us with. I would love to share some things. I think sharing is as important than receiving, actually giving is better than receiving. It gives you such a good feeling inside. So if we could do this that would be great. I'm not sure how many people look at the trade section or even use it. I never have used it but would be willing to share with people and trade too. Did that make any sense? I hope so.
Here is Episcia Metallica. She has gone through 2 bloom cycyles since I have had her. I think I want to start colleting more of the episcias. I have seen Cleopatra at Bluebird's. She is so beautiful. But I think my favorite is Episcia 'Pink Dreams'. I have seen her on Rob's site and she is so beautiful. Oops, my camera needs charging but I will show her to you all a bit later.
Jesse
Wow, Allison, i had no idea Avs could grow so big!
She is lovely!
Wow she is pretty. I love the big ones.
allison she is huge and beautiful!! love it!!!!! u picked the perfect pot. isn't that hard to do sometimes. i have trouble picking the right pots.
kelly
Thanks everyone. It sure is hare to pick the correct pot sometimes Kelly espicialy with large trailers and crazy growing plants like this one. It started from one tiny little crown ! God only knows I've cut off a dozen or more good size crowns from her and the leaves I have put down and shared with others !
I am glad I ordered these pots from Bluebirds . I'll be ordering up a bunch more now I know how great they are.
Here is the info on them !
Cutie Pans
These pans are wonderful. When our local violet club first saw them they all wanted pans to bring home. At the time we didn't have pricing on them - but now we can offer a very attractive violet container at an affordable price. These durable terracotta color plastic pans will make any violet collection look good. Drainage holes in the bottom are ready to accept our Figidy Wicks for maintenance free violet gardening. Especially useful for Trailers and Episcias or plant into it like the container gardens at the National violet shows. Have your own violet container garden design! Pick up a few today and give it a try. Terracotta color with wick/drainage holes.

Jesse, although I like your idea of posting wants and haves on one big trading form, I'm not sure how to make that work. I think the least confusing way might be to just post a list of what you have available and what you're looking for. When somebody responds to say they will be able to send you A, B, and C in return for X, Y, and Z, then make a note of it, or put an entry in your DG trade tracker (a tool I use a lot here).
Jesse don't forget I'm sending you Aussie Alice !
I think we have a thread in forum for what we have and our wish list.
If you'd like to give plants away free for shipping you could post that here .
And if you'd just want to trade some AV's you could either post what you have or post people interesting in trading Av's to Dmail you !
Me I have qay too many babies still and God just a keeps on making more babies grow.
So as soon as I get caught up ( get Bingo boxes out and couple other promised boxes) I am going to post FREE plant list again ,
Also extras are good to Sponcor a Bingo game ! I want to be able to do this again.
Amy posted she wanted to trade for Gesneraids and she got some trades !
And I think Jacki posted to trade and got some trades.
We do it here all the time. That's hpw Jill and I traded and so on.
Just a few ideas hope they help you.
That sounds like a good idea. I have so many babies that have just recently sprouted. I can't wait until they get big enough to trade. When I get a few more I will definitely sponsor a bingo game. I think that is really neat that we can do that. I will sit down and make a list of some of the ones I just have to have and then make a list of what I have to offer. I think the trade tracker is a good idea too. I think I might start using that. It sounds like it has been a useful tool to many here. So I think I will do it that way with maybe a short list of "haves" and "wants" to post on the forum.
Jesse
Geez, Allison! That is one big plant! LOL
She is beautiful!
Janis
Thanks Janis !
Here is Angel Tears Trail a few weeks before my hubby brought her to Eunice. Then Mary Eunice's sister grabbed her home with her. She took great care of her but Mary got sick :(( and Mary's plants went back to Eunice. And she was blooming when Eunice got her back.
She posted a picture acouple days ago. And awesome trailer ! I bought her as a baby last Oct or so 2005 from Violet Gallery small in 2 inch pot and grew so mant from leaf and crown. Does anyone else have her growing ! She's a nice Vintage.
I grew many of this trailer by leaf, gave dozens of leaf sets away and plants. This plant here first picture I gave to Eunice when I gave all my plants away.
Angel Tears Trail (6126) 01/22/1986 (C. Sotkiewicz) Double white frilled/pink fantasy. Medium green, pointed, quilted. Standard trailer
Like I said I gave this plant I was able to give several large ones Hubby brought them to Eunice. Mary her sister was there and grabbed Angell Tears Trail :)) It bloomed happy for Mary in her windowsills. African violets brought much joy to Mary. Then Mary got very sick and Eunice took Mary's plants to care for. Back in Oct. I could not recall when before Eunice posted again the picture of plant here I posted above now living with Eunice Third Mom in same pot so cool :)) Happy as can be !
