New Hoyas!

Oshkosh, WI(Zone 4b)

I found two new hoyas at the local garden store, both in 4-inch pots. Here's the first one:

Allright Candace! Nice going. They looks so fresh and happy.

Candace, this one is Hoya Carnosa Rubra, or the Krimson Princess Hoya.

Again, very healthy, very happy and pretty plant.

Congratulations!

Thanks, Ann! I was so surprised to see these in the store yesterday. They had these two that I bought, and some with the curled leaves too. No big pots, just these babies. But they looked so healthy, and I love the colors, so I had to get them!

Thanks again, Christine, for the ID! I loved the leaf colors on this one, but those red stems really got to me and I had to have this one too!

I agree Candace, these are two of my favourites also (the other being in your other thread, the Krimson Queen).

Thanks Christine (ceedub)! I love both of these too. I've seen so many great ones on this forum, and thought they were absolutely beautiful. I had to grab these when I found them, because I know they will sell out fast.

O.K. I always get confussed on this hoya. It is called so many names, I have mine tagged exotica. This name game gets so confussing...

Erm..I am confused too..I have exotica (Picta) and this looks like that one

My krimson queen is just green and white (not so much variation in the green)
and my rubra is different also..it has much rounder leaves

LOL color me in the confused corner with Tami

Lorry, our newest expert to DG says that there are a lot of "sports" of these two plants around. I'm not sure exactly what that means but I think that it has something to do with people doing their own variety of cross-polination. Just to make it simple I just refer to them by their (I think!) original names.
