Looking for Sweet Annie

Richland, WA(Zone 7b)

When I lived in northern Louisiana I grew Sweet Annie (poa annua) easily, and I still have some dried stems in a vase 6 years later! But here in Florida I can't find any- can anyone tell me where to get good seeds or plants? It's aroma is divine, and I would like to have it growing all around the yard! Thanks-

I don't suppose there are any seeds on your dried stems.... :-)

I knew I'd seen it in one of my seed catalogs this winter, so I went looking... Pinetree Garden Seeds has it in their "Everlastings" section under "Flower Seeds." This link should take you to it, http://www.superseeds.com/everlastings.htm#973.

I have to say, Pinetree would be a little easier to navigate without their "specialty" categories... I can never remember that the bean I am looking for is really an "Italian Vegetable" etc.

I love Sweet Annie, too. My dad used to grow a big field of it and sell in bunches in the fall at a big flea market. He always sold out by about 8am~!

I love making wreaths out of the stuff but I haven't got any viable seeds. Remember unless you want Sweet Annie EVERYWHERE to harvest it before the seeds make.

Then you can decide where to put the plants you want since it is annual.

I don't know - might stay ok in FL but I'm not sure what it would do for ya!

I did find some Sweet Annie seeds at Pinetree Garden Seeds and I have a few sprouting now. I'm keeping the rest in the fridge until next spring then will plant them.
