My evening visitor

Andrews, NC(Zone 6a)

Luna moth that had just emerged , notice the twisted tails of it lower wings. Stayed around for a few hours and then went on it's way. It was very beautiful.

oh how lucky you are. Still wait for my turn to see one in real life

Hebron, KY

I saw my very first Luna within this past. It was on our front porch light for a couple of days and then it was gone. We leave the front porch light on all night when we go to bed also.

Beautiful!

Oh DonnaB, me too!!! And I want to SO bad!!

I've even thought about planting my own Sweetgum tree to attract them. I love the trees but don't want the roots on top of the ground and those thorny seed balls.

I have sweet gum all over the new place but no sign of one anywhere. I keep making DH leave the porch light on in hope of one coming to it. It is sooooooooooo very dark out here in the country. I will try digging you up a small one if I can and pot it up until fall. It would never stand the shock of being dug and then shipped in this heat.

I'd be leaving the light on too. So do you go sit out in the dark watching for them? I would be. lol

That's so sweet of you. I guess I could keep a tree in a pot. My SIL did that for a long time with one. No big deal, but if you find a little seedling I might try it. Thanks!
