I was out in the garden getting pictures of my new blooms when this little hummer buzzed up to my Salvia and just went crazy. I was able to snap a few shots before it flew off. I can't believe I actually captured her. The camera wasn't even set to stop the action.
Hope you enjoy!
My first hummer pict

too cool! I haven't seen one yet this year. Still hoping. In the meantime I'm enjoying everyone's pics.
gram
Thanks everyone. I have seen several this year but haven't had my camera handy until now.
She found a real prize. She's going to commit that salvia to memory.
Good timing! I rarely see any in my garden. :( Year before last I had several and feeders but only one last year and a few sightings this year. I actually think I saw one zoom off from me today, but I can't be positive.
Do you know what the name of that salvia is? I have 2 that look like it, one "Black and Blue" and one Salvia Guaranitica. I'm trying to decide if they are actually the same plant but look different in sun or shade.
konkrete - It really was about timing. The salvia is "Black and Blue" and the first year I have grown it. Not only is it pretty but if it is attracting the hummers I will definitely keep it.
gorgeous!!
Oh, it's definitely attracting the hummers! I actually saw one in my garden today! It was going from one side to the other, from the blue salvia in the shade to the piece of it I moved to the sun. It also was using my Texas Star Hibiscus. I've always wondered if they used these but this is the first time I've seen one at mine. I lucked out and got a pic. :)
My husband saw 3 hummers while I was standing on a step ladder adjusting my passionvine. So hoping to get another picture I had him bring me my camera and I stood there waiting. Nothing. I turned around and adjusted a piece of vine and when I turned back I saw one flying off. I wasn't patient enough. I'm just so excited that I have some this year!
