Long awaited Bloom! Can you help me identify?

Thomson, GA

Hi all. I am pretty knew here and I guess you could say a fairly novice gardener. Since moving to our new home last July, I have spent every available minute getting my yard the way I want it. I am a LONG way from being finished, but gardening has definitely become my passion, and DG folks don't make me feel like a crazy person, unlike some of my family and friends. Anyway, just before we moved, I acquired this hibiscus rooting, and had the little one all rooted in a pot, and waited to plant her at our new home. There were no established beds (well, there were, but might as well not have been due to their condition, yikes.) So, I lovingly planted this baby, anxiously awaiting blooms!. Of course, it died back over the winter and I was afraid I might have lost her. Then sometime when I wasn't looking, here comes this beautiful healthy plant. (It has grown to about 4' tall )Then I again anxiously awaited buds. This morning the first bloom finally opened!! I know it's nothing unusual or special, and I have no idea what her name is, but I knew the folks on this forum could relate.

I'm so proud!!!

Hi guardians. I am too new to Hibiscuses, well atleast the hardy ones. If you ever find out her name let me know. I bought seeds that looked exactly like your.
You should be proud she is a beauty.

it kind of looks like the swamp hibiscus I had at the old place. They grew 8' t x 6' w in the damp ground my septic system. Came back every year

That's a swamp Hibiscus, I have one that looks about the same. As far as an exact match I'm not sure. I cut mine off to the ground and they come back bigger and strong every year.

How hard is it to grow from seed? I am collecting the seed pods (hope I am doing it right) because I would like to start a bed in another part of the yard. Or can it be propogated with cuttings? Thanks!
