Buds??

Royse City, TX(Zone 8a)

Are these flower buds? I haven't had but one flower on all 8 of my brugmansias. Could these be buds? I am so eager to find out since most of my brugs are of unknown color. The only one I had bloom was a beautiful golden yellow and smelled like a minty honeysuckle scent. I am hoping to see some flushes on them all. I've been watering them every morning and night because of the 90 to 100 degree weather we have had and hopefully this means its paying off.

Good for you. Those buds should grow fast in that heat. Aren't you a good brug dad watering them so much!

Now I can't wait to go inspect mine in the morning. Until you said so, I couldn't see a bud.
This is my first year trying to grow brugs, I get so excited. Keep the pictures coming so I can compare. Thanks, Marie

I'm so glad I'm not just seeing things. I had a bunch on there last month but they burned of with the heat. I've been more careful with watering, twice daily, and making sure that their leaves don't start to droop. I've noticed that all of my brugs have buds on them. Some only one or two, but most of them have tons. The one in the picture has about 30 even though you can only see 2 in the picture I took. I can't wait to find out what color they are. I will definately keep taking pictures as they get bigger and finally bloom.

How long do they usually take to mature to flower form? The only flower I got last time, I never noticed it until about 3 days before the bloom opened.

gardenguy........that one is gonna take awhile. I would't doubt that it will be at least month before it opens, somewhere in that range........sometimes my buds will come on and grow pretty fast but the heat seems to slow them down a bit and they take a little longer. Don't dispare they will get there and you will have more coming on the the next few weeks.

Keep us posted.

Glad to see you are getting some buds.
Now the waiting begins and the excitement of those blooms soon to arrive.
