These leaves are very uniquely colored.
The plant has 4 branches and all have long thin leaves.
These colors have shown only on this branch
I have several seedlings that show unussual color or variegation
Sometimes it holds, sometimes it grows out as the seedling ages.
This one developed on a seedling that is already over a year and a half old WOOT!!
This is by far the most unussual yet.
Im hoping one of the seed parents for this one was stenopetala.
The leaves would indicate so at this point.
No indication of any inflos as yet.
Flowers next year I hope!!
She branched in a most unussual way.
The tip seemed to get hard and brown, then all these branches popped out! LOL!
Unussual Leaves
Michael, I hope this doesn't disappoint you, but I don't think you have an interspecific cross there. I have had both seedlings and regular cuttings do the same thing from either tip damage or from me cutting the tip off to use the base for grafting purposes. When the new branches come in, the leaves are very long and narrow. They eventually fill out. I don't know why this happens.
Once, I started to get Black Tip on one of my seedings, and so I rubbed it out with my finger and scraped it off with my fingernail. The tip closed, but many branches grew tightly around the tip. They eventually relaxed. Here's an old picture of it.
Anyway, seedlings are fun and unusual sometimes, and yours are neat! Love the stripe on your Giant Aussie Orange Blossom. I'm a fan of oddities also. That must be why you like me, and I like you! LOL!
I am more impressed by the coloration of the leaves than the shape.
I hope they stay true but if not no big deal.
Im really hoping the color holds though.
I get the same thing from my seedlings who's mother is from down under (OZ).
I also notice it is from the seedlings who's mother is a some kind of red flower...
Looking at the shape and texture of the leaves she looks like a child of some kind of
red flower not to sure from pics..
The branching is like this because a seedling has a strong and healthy root system
compare to a cutting. The seedling has lots of stored energy and is trying to release it to keep up with the root growth..
I had several leaves that came out transparent and i know it had something to do with the food i was giveing it..
I was trying to alter a seedling growth habits by induceing GB-Acid my target was to make her a bonsai plant..
I was doing good until hurricane wilma claim her :(
Nice pics MAL!
Can you give us a better shot of the aussie orange i always thought of getting one..
Next time you are hunting for a OZ cutting get a Rosy Posy the smell is awesome and she is a really prolific bloomer and she grows very fast..
The flower has a great texture on top of that..
Have a look at the Rosy Posy..
The pics are 200kb each and sized for use as a wallpaper so sorry for size but i think
shots of pani's should be raw or semi-raw format so one can enjoy the beauty. ;=/

Nice photos Lopaka,
I wont be buying anymore Plumies, I have plenty.
Any new aquisitions will be trades, gifts or seedlings Ive grown on my own.
I use GA-3 also but to induce branching as well as growth.
There are so many apps it can be used for, But... very carefully lol!
Ive also seen plants die from it too.
I am bonsaing a couple also. Im not really impressed so far.
There is a horemone that inhibits growth that can be used also.
Hi guys! Hey you two both like to experiment with chemicals! LOL! "Doctor." "Doctor." "Doctor." "Doctor." That was a joke taken from a scene in "Spies Like Us," when a group of doctors were meeting each other and it always cracks me up. Anyway, Eva uses some stuff called "Bonzai" on her plumerias to keep them from getting too big and is experimentling with that.
Great pics of yours, Lopaka! The pictures were a perfect size. Your plumies are lovely.
LoL Clare..
Yeah i do like to try different things and push the envelope when i can and
it sounds like Malestrom does too..
I really don't need to considering where i live...
Glad you like the pics i have so many and it just takes time for me to convert them
so i can get them on my computer..
I need a digital camera bad and i will go buy one in the next day or so i just need to do
more research on which camera is the best for taking close up shots of flowers and such..

Lopaka, I know what you mean about rust. I saw the first signs of rust today on a couple of seedlings. All this rain! Hope it dries up soon so I can get out and do some spraying.
Brad
Lopaka, I wish I could help you in the camera dept., but I'm just using whatever DH gave me. I'm sure there are some knowledgeable people here about digital cameras if you do a search of past threads. Brad takes awesome pictures. Maybe he can tell you what he uses:-)
