What do y'all think this is???
Sunflower Disease or BUGS????
I've been madly googling to find out what is wrong with my sunflowers and found a few leads that might apply to yours.

Are you anywhere near the Farmer's Market? I know they have a Master Gardener's booth where you can bring your sick leaves and bug samples.
KYRA,
Whats your guess re: which it is??

I have the same pattern on one of my rose bushes :-( I will have my daughter take a picture for me so I can post it. About 6 weeks ago, we had a huge infestation of bugs on them, so my husband used 7dust to kill them. Unfortunately, it burned a lot of leaves in the process. He cut all of the burned stuff away, but the new growth has the same black/yellow yuck on it and there is no evidence of bugs. It's not black spot. We had a lot of that last year, but it all away, had a little bit this spring and cut that away as well.
Let me start by warning you that the times I have googled for symptoms as far as humans were concerned, I have usually come up with odder diagnoses than my doctors have ever confirmed.
It does look like the pictures of Septoria leaf spot that I saw. If it is that, you should make sure not to include any of that plant's litter in your compost and consider planting sunflowers in a new location next year. I'd pick off the worst leaves and consider one of the less nasty fungicides if it is all over the plant.
KYRA,
I'll take as NASTY as I can GET, lol I sprayed it with MESSENGER as experiment. If that dont do it, and I pick off the leaves, I will prolly pull it up.

Blue - take leaves (as suggested by Kyra) down to Farmer's Market in Oly - there is a manned Master Gardener booth there during the time the Market is open - Friday is best, though. If not there, then MG office out behind Fred Meyers - better to use an appropriate substance. That can't be done until you know the enemy by the whites of its eyes.
And I, for one, am profoundly grateful that Washington has such an accessible Cooperative Extension and Master Gardeners program. They also staff booths at the Redmond and Issaquah Farmer's Markets.
They're at the West Seattle Farmer's Market, too. It's a wonderful resource!
