USB to Ethernet connection

I am setting up a new Dell at work. We were USB but the Qwest tech support says ethernet is an easier way to set up. I can not find the yellow cord that came with the Qwest modem that has that specific kind of connector. Can I buy that at Radio Shack or the like? And the new Dell does not have a floppy disc thingamujig. (my bosses grandson did the ordering)Can I put the floppy disc to cd? all the info is on floppy disc so we have prob's if not.
