Oh my! A surprise bloom!

Omaha, NE(Zone 4b)

I got this Hoya only 10 days ago from our own Carol (aka Ms. Pimpette, as I understand it!) There was no hint of a bud, yet this a.m., I discovered a big, full bud ready to open. I watered it (felt a little dry...) and - viola! - I came home to an open flower this afternoon! This is H. aff. anulata - first, one of the largish leaves that have a hint of red from sun...

... and here is the flower...

This one is small - only 9 individual flowers in this umbel - but it's one of those that has new growth forming behind the flowers, so should re-flower right away. Yay!!

Uh oh.. do I detect another hoya addict in the making? It's a long and joyful slide into the decay of hoyaholism. That's a very pretty flower Denise.

How many times have you looked at it today??????

What was Hoya Step 1 again? I admit I am powerless.....?

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Beautiful Denise. I think you're going to be really, really happy with that one. I got mine from La Pimpette just a few months ago, I put it in a southwest window (I'm in the pacific northwest where the sun is stingy most of the year) and after a couple of months the peduncles started blooming, it formed new ones, and it has not stopped blooming! I think out of all the hoyas that one provides continuous gratification. There really is no scent to mine, however.
Enjoy!!!

Very, very pretty! Congratulations!!
Hold on, there is a Hoya Step program? I thought I was a Hoya Harlot, I am also a Hoyaholic?? I don't want to take part in no step program, I am perfectly happy becoming the Crazy Lady with all the plants!!

Prescott, AZ

What a beautiful flower, and a very pretty picture you took with the light behind it.

Oh Denise, that's gorgeous. They look porcelein (sp?)!

Our beloved Pimpette always seems to do such a good job of including at least one hoya with buds already on it. Ain't it great?!

Beautiful Denise! I am so glad I got that one now too. I love the ones that get tinged red in high light. Great shot of the flower too.
